na then lads, i wus jus wunderin if simply jus a bigger carb (17.5) on a 50 air cooled speedfight with laser x-pro wud make any performance difference or if it will jus flood the engine. if it wont improve ill stick with my 70cc plan, its only because im tight with money. cheers guys.

lol yeah i jus want it to have power and not to have the engine shout at me wen im thrashin it, basically i want it to handle being thrashed and to be able to have good acceleration. ill try it wiv a bigger carb and see what happens. yeah when ur bikes finished i reckon it will be fast as fuck with tht setup. good luck to ya m8. cheers :D

Right if you want to fit a bigger carb on a speedfight, theres a couple of things that need to be addressed 1st :D

The std inlet manifold is totally wank, you cant even fit your little finger down it :hitit:

you could spend a couple of hours opening it out with a dremel to the size of the carb venturi your using....or use 1 of these ;)

    Thats the cheapest way covered.....

But the next problem is the puny poorly designed reed valve assembly :(

so a better solution in my book to fitting a bigger inlet is to buy this:

now you can bolt a bigger carb to your speedfight ;)

cheers dave now i have my two options lol either big bore or carb. cheers m8 depending on cash situations depends on what path i choose. o and by the way ive done 15000 miles exactly do you reckon my crank will take either modifications?

I'd say get a new crank before you do anything, best way really. Thats my opinion anyway

out of the big bore verses big carb question, its 70cc everytime ;)

then once the kit is on, everything else can be added as and when you can afford it,
adding more power along the way :D

as for the crank, ooh people do fit kits onto engines with that sort of mileage,
but its a risk and your always better off with a fresh crank and bearings ;)

arite m8 cheers i just dont have the skill money,or the place to fit a new crank and bearings. ive just been looking at a polini speed control kit, how about if i jus fitted that and laser x-pro surely that would be a noticeable increase. and then when i start doing my aprenticeship as a mechanic in about a month and a bit i can fit a big bore and crank and bearings. do u think the speed control and pipe will improve?

yep should make a difference, not as much as a 70 kit but worthwhile ;)

also dont just bolt them on and say they are shit lol.

the perfect roller weight will need to be found and will need an upjet ;)

yep i reckon i can change my rollers in my sleep now,

such is the extent of the many different combinations of roller weights ive tried :w00t:

at the end of it all ive found a good compromise!!! :nerd:

yeah i think i ran 7.0g in my speedfight, but it depends how you like your power curve really...

really good off the line acceleration, or a bit slower off the line with 10kph or so more top end!!

i usually set my scoots up the latter way, helps the mpg too :D

all i can say is if you start messing with scooter tuning, expect to dig deep into your pockets, one small thing can cause a magnitude of problems. my advice would be a sports pipe and 4% bigger jet to start with or if you plan on kitting it, do that first.
