Right well just had the cylinder off my aerox to inspect the piston and rings, rebuilt it making sure gaskets etc were all in the right places and went to start it, bike will fire then knock off but when you take the plug out theres water on it! cant understand where it could be coming from.

Have no coolant hoses attached just because i'm testing it before i put it back into the bike fully would this cause the water to be going into the crank/engine?

only took off as far as the cylinder, never removed anything more than it!

p.s engine was working perfectly before head was removed.

If it dident need a rebuild then why take it to bits?? Anyways, sounds like your head gasket is either incorrectly fitted or damaged to let water into the cylinder.

At this rate, you WILL need a rebuild because water = rusty crank and rusted bearings.

Always replace gaskets when rebuilding, not worth the risk for the very little money it costs to buy them.

Might be to late now.. but if i were you i would take the engine out again, make sure you drain all the water out from the cases. and then dry them with a hair dryer. then lube up the crank again with some 2t. fit it back toghter with a NEW gasket set and then if you have access to a leak tester then use that, if not try the engine again and see if you sloved the problum.

you may have fitted a gasket wrong, or if you used the old ones it may have been split, worn out etc. never worth risking second hand gaskets for the £5 a new set cost !

also you have to think, if you took the head, cooolent system with water still in it, thats could have caused your problum.

make sure you get the water out ASAP as bearings rust very very quickly !
