    Big Hello to everyone.
My name is Wes and can just say what a top site this is

Ok so I got fed up with sitting in traffic, my 4 mile car trip to work was taking 50 minutes, so I got my self a cheap chino ped, brilliant that 50 minute commute is now a 15 minute scooter ride.
But then somthing stranged happend, I started to enjoy riding the ped about and found myself just going out for a ride for no reason at all.

So I got myself a project, now in my day there were 2 types of scooter owner, those who had a Yamaha BWS and those who wanted a Yamaha BWS, unfortunately I never owned one. So I'm reliving my teenage dream.

It's a 1991 model thats in a bit of a bad way, it's been sat in a garage since 1993. I'm going to fully restore it and I've got loads of mods going on it and in the coming months I'm sure I'll be badgering you lot with lots of questions.

    Here are my rides

My chino ped, I derestricted it, fitted Malossi 4.3g rollers, up jetted 4 sizes and modified the airbox (with a drill, lol) It now does 49mph according to the chino speedo which is 43mph according to my GPS, Unless there is slight wind coming at you in which case it's more like 35mph, Which is still a hell of lot faster then the 27mph it went when I first got it. As you can see it's leaking gear oil all over the place. lol

My project Yamaha BWS, full resto and lots of mods coming

And my motor, which I have owned for the last 5 years, Due to petrol costs and traffic it doesn't get used much any more.

Cheers for the welcome everyone

Yes mate, Ive got a few in mind, Firstly let me say that I'm new to the modern world of scooter tuning, Back in the early 90's me and my mates were drilling holes in air boxes, home made bored out main jets, grinding down variator pulleys and cutting CDI wires. Which is not the route I want to take with the BWS.

So I've done a bit of research and taking cost and reliability (gonna be a daily ride) in to consideration and from what I've read (bearing in mind I have no experience) This is the performance mods I have planned

Gianelle Extra Exhaust (Chrome with Carbon Can)
    Dellorto 17.5mm Carb
    Poloni Reed Petal
    Poloni 70cc Kit
    Poloni Crankshaft
    Poloni Main Bearing
    Poloni Speed Control Variator Kit
    Poloni outer front Pulley
    Malossi Clutch Springs
    Malossi CDI
Malossi Air Filter Element (Modified Air Box)

Please feel free to give me your opinions on this set up

Hey Capri Dave, 2 things I dreamed of in the early 90s, Yamaha BWS and the Tickford Capri, I also love the mk1 RS3100. What have you got?

Suggestions edited would be where i'd be going on my bike if only i wasn't saving for a car. Could go further though but for a daily ride would be very nice (and wheelie a treat)

Cheers mate, I'll have to check out the prices.
About the forks, I was going to change the front forks and wheels main reason I want a front disc brake, I want to keep the wheels to 10" because I want to keep the chunkey tyres, Will the parts from a BWS next gen fit my 1991 frame?

Also I quite like the forks and wheels on the ew50 slider, would those parts fit my frame?

I've got a Next Gen the aerox lower bearings are bigger than my booster but the top ones fitted. If they're the same diameter top and bottom on yours they should be a straight swap next gen to yours, but i ain't 100%, and cause they're usd can't swap the lowers and keep the original headstock like i did :(

But as ash is running aerox forks on his 1990 bws it is possible just a case of giving it a shot, although aerox forks require 190mm disks, old boosters used 4 bolt 180mm disks so watch out for that ;)

It isnt anything as exotic as those 2 you mentioned im afraid...

The car started out as a 1.6 Laser (seriously slow)

so i dropped in a 160(ish) bhp 2.1 pinto running twin 45 side draughts...

A Half leather injection special interior, big disc 4 pot brakes and uprated lowered suspension...and about a few thousand other bits and pieces ;)

check out my piczo site in my link, its pretty much all in there ;)
