    brakko brake looks good :yahoo:
its quite similar to the buells wheel mounted floating brake but is it a new design or have they played about with it in the past?

and the way its mounted means that youd need a wheel when the discs shagged no?

Looking in this section allways makes me want to do my bike test ! Can't decide on weather to go for it, or get a new car.
However the bike will be quicker and more fun. Only thing that puts me off is not knowing anoyone (e.g family members or friends) "in to bikes" to advise me ect....

    funny you say that

"The Prime Minister has demanded answers from the Transport Minister over the drastic fall in new riders taking the motorcycle test.

Gordon Brown was put on the spot during Prime Minister’s Question Time yesterday – by an MP who learnt of the crisis from MCN.

Anne Main, Conservative MP for St Albans, asked: “Since 2008 and the introduction of new rules on motorcycling and tests, the number of people taking the test has declined by 62% and the number of people passing the test has declined by 58 per cent.

"The motorbiking industry is extremely important in the UK. What will the Prime Minister do to rectify what is obviously a very poor system?”

The PM answered: “I shall take the figures that the honourable Lady has given me and ask the Transport Minister to look into that very matter.

"It is important that we have a strong motorcycling industry in this country, and it is important that her question about the specifics of the tests be answered.”

Anne Main’s husband Andy raised the issue with his wife after reading in MCN that 50,000 fewer riders had taken the new test during its first eight months. He said: “As a life-long biker, I was very concerned to read the article. I decided to give my wife a call, and she doesn't sit around.

"She managed to get a question asked in Prime Minister's Question Time.”"

i highly doubt the government/tfl (or whoever is in charge) will change the current motorcycle licence test to help anyone but themselvs

as you said "number of people passing the test has declined by 58 per cent."

that means people have payid and failed.

meaning more £ to the government in the end

its all about the reddies to them

i heard its the slow speed control thats getting people,
not the emergency brake and swerve that they predicted would be the test make or breaker

eu call for 100bhp limit on bikes

Motorcycles could be subjected to 100bhp power limits under proposals to be set out by the European Commission this summer.

The Commission is expected to propose European-wide consistency on the issue, raising the prospect that countries will have to change in line with France, where a 100bhp limit is already in place.

The Department for Transport (DfT) has asked UK motorcycle groups for opinions on the plans in anticipation of the consultation.

A spokesman for the Motor Cycle Action Group (MAG) said: “The DfT has been asking us for our opinion on this and we’ve very clearly come out against a power limit for the UK.”

He said the proposals were also likely to include ABS for all new bikes. “A 100bhp limit is back on the EU agenda as part of a package of fresh controls which includes mandatory ABS.”

A draft version of the proposals published last year said of the current inconsistency between countries: “This creates a situation where a motorcycle above 74 kW [100bhp] type-approved in one country is refused in another one. This type of situation is not in line with the spirit of the internal market.

“On the other hand, it emerged from dedicated studies that the link between engine power and increase of safety cannot be demonstrated. Based on this, the Commission intends to propose an harmonisation of the EC legislation on that matter.”
