Recently bought a spares and repairs, have now finished the work, but ofcourse it needs coolant topping up, and I need to put new oil in, then it will run, but what is the best way to get it running, cos I'm not exactly expecting it to start first time on the kickstart. And hints tips tricks you guys have used please. Thanks in advance.
is it premix or auto lube? has it got clean fuel? if the choke works like it should it should only take a couple of kicks. I like to take the air filter off so I can block the air flow to the carb to act as a choke, works briliant haha if its a auto-lube make sure all pipes are good, no twists that stop the flow or whatever, otherwise..something will seize/get damaged fairly quickly. Good luck and make sure you keep us updated, I love them Yamaha's myself
You need to bleed the oil pump before starting to get rid of any air pockets. See the service manual, section 3-14; http://wiki.scooterforum.net/images/2/2d/Werkplaatshandboek_aerox.pdf
So, good news! started after a couple of kicks, and road it quickly, moves luck a slug and sounds like a racket! So, new exhaust and new rollers are gonna be ordered soon and should be smooth as anything. And for anyone that cares, my future plans in upgrade are: Gianelli extra chrome exhaust Stage 6 70cc cylinder secondary gear up (possibly primary also) Brand new all black panels with race under tray number plate holder behind rear wheel carbon bar conversion 17.5mm carb Clutch springs Race variator/clutch and variator casing few carbon body styling parts and some small performance parts I can't think of.
You wont need both gear ups. Pointless on a low end 70's. I'd deffonatly recomend a upgraded crank though.
