hongdou 125, chinese rep of a cg125. my bro got it to learn to ride on, 2 years ago. its been stood ever since, and will not start, so gunna be a project
my mum is moving and so they have no need for it (i think hes gunna try and use my step dads kymco 125 instead) so i got it given, just need to get it fired up. know for sure ill get it running and find a bit of open land and learn to ride with gears, then decide if im MOTing and taxing it depending on insurance price. otherwise it goes up for sale

did enjoy the 3 mile hike though pushing it home (well mostly pushed i did sit on it for some downhill)

need to work out the way to start it up before i can attempt to find out why it wont start, its got ignition switch (barrel isnt there) ,kill switch, fuel tap, choke.

all of which i dont know the proper way they should be when it come to firing up

if anyone has a manual/workshop info for one id be for ever grateful

These bikes have been around for like ages,
reckon they would'nt be so greedy long the copyright issue,
if they made your honghdo near the same lines might want to
see if the cg's could help,
there's generally a few free pdf files knocking about. :) .

thanks mark your a star, ill keep looking for honda cg stuff rather than hongdou :)

have been on the phone to my step dad, says it should fire up without electrics, one quick thing is, is the battery 6volt or 12? im reading 6 atm

his advice is rip the tank off and clean it out, clean out the carb then pop in some fresh fuel and see if it will start?

    any thoughts?

Sound advice cleaning tank/carb.up ( +fuel filter, possibly check exhaust is clear, air filter fresh,no blockages in a/box,carb.adjustment- ,idle, airscrew, float height, needle position, throttle cable adjustment, all wiring properly connected, replace fuse as matter of course, make sure wiring unhindered/not trapped-kinked-frayed (+esp. free to move as running can cause intermitttant prob.) but starting without electrics,eeeerr-nit.,
No electrics mate = no spark. :) .,
Not really into 4's man, have'nt had a cg in over 25 years/quite frankly do 'nt know voltage.,
    Hope little helps.bedtime/night.mk. :) .

man your amazing cheers, hmm makes sense re: spark :) lol

got tank off, gunna empty it out, take off the tap check the filter in there, probably change it. gunna whip off the airbox (hopefully) and have a butchers then move on to the carb. gunna try and get that all off so i can decide what i need to buy tomoz

think gunna put it all back together, then tomoz wheel it up to the garage and slap in some fuel, see if the damn thing will fire at all

If fuel has dryed up,it will leave residue - which can either end up a gummy and or varnish like substance,
make sure all! your carb.internals are well clean as this can effect proper operation of your floats/jets,etc.
I'd check your pipes/replace as a matter of course as over time will degrade ,some chinese products are not known
    for their quality............ ,
I'd check your choke is operating, o.k.,
1 thing alot don't check is your filler cap vent -
Petrol won't enter carb.if theres no air going into p.tank to
    replace it!,

So if your electrics are checked?,batteries charged up,
an having trouble or getting no spark ,
Make sure it's switched on/kill switch off, you'd be surprised!!!!!..................... .
