Had my engine out today for a good clean and got it ready to put the polini sport and 21mm carb on it and i took my oil pump out to clean it and thought of premixing it instead from now on. Just wondering how you remove the gear as i just couldn't seem to get it out no matter what i done to it lol. It's on a piaggio zip sp mk1. Think all piaggio engines are all pretty alike so anyone that could explain to me what the benefits of running premix are and how i could get this bloody oil pump gear out it is much appreciated!! :)

    thanks

No idea about the pump drive on piaggios, but I premix my aerox just because I don't trust the oil pump, and its not worth ruining my crank and cylinder because I couldn't be arsed to premix :p

You will need to go up one size on the main jet though

Cheers mate, didn't know if it took any stress off the crank and gave a bit of increase on performance or anything?.. think my carb is slightly overjetted anyway

Suppose it take a bit of resistance off the crank, probably not noticeable.

Doesn't really add performance, but should be done as a precaution when tuning really

From what ive heard its a lot better if you're tuning and worried your autolube isn't putting enough oil through

I suppose it would be a bit awkward but what would you prefer an angry old man moaning because you're taking too long or a seized engine lool :/.

haha good point... the old man would get told to piss off and go to another pump tbf. haha

think im just gonna drop a bit of 2t into the petrol tank n give it a good shake with the oil pump still on

Im only on about the smallest bit so its only very slightly 'premixed' and obv still have the oil pump functioning as usual ?

Just carry some measuring spoons under your seat, and your oil.

At a petrol station you could just fill up, add the oil and shake the bike to mix it. I usually mix it in a separate container though.

even with the oil pump in action/fitted ?

was just gonna tip a very small bit so its like 99.5% petrol .5% 2t, literally a drop of oil ?

Im gonna get that Stage6 measuring jug thing from PP, how much would you say was ideal if iv still got the oil pump connected up ?
