belt slipping

    hi i tryed getting by bike up a realy steep drive and i mean raely steep and it felt like the belt was slipping all the time. it was at full revs and wasnt moving up the steep drive. does this normally hapen or is it time for a new belt or wateva ?

    any or all of the following can be the cause

    1. your weights are too light, hills and steeps roads needs heavier weights so the variator can rub your belt properly.

    2.you clutch springs are too strong and your rpms are wasted without the bike moving smoothly.

    3.you belt is long and the variator needs to make extra rpms to even pick it up

    4.worn belt acts like an elastic band it can stretch longer than usual and finally might snap out on you.

    i'd say check your belt to see if it's really worn or not then if not adjust your weights and spring.

    50cc scooters are pretty agile at steeps hills if properly set up :). tho not as agile as a 172 monster :p
