    Ongoing trouble with my bike...

Plan was to remove fairings and underseat battery box to get to the idle control screw. Did that and tried to reconnect the battery so i could start the bike warm it up and then adjust the idle.

All was going well til I tried to reconnect the battery. Pos on first, then went to put the Neg on and i got a little spark.

Took both back off again, reconnected the Pos, went to conenct the Neg and it sparked then the bike made a noise like when you push in the starter button.

All switches were off, key was 4 feet from the bike so not in the ignition.

    Any ideas?

you have to be abit clearer than that. What your problem for a start ? and when you reconect a battery your ment to remove the fuse first, connect the batt and then put the fuse back in and the spark is normal, purely because its made a circuit.

Problem to start was originally the bike wouldnt start, then it started and idled, but when i reved to move off it choked out.

Done a few things to see whats what, still got some more to check off my list before i call it quits and hand it into a garage.

Today I was gona adjust the idle control screw to see if that had any effect.

Its a DNA 125cc. To get a screwdriver on the screw i had to remove the saddle, the fairings on the side of the saddle, the plastic upper surrounding and the lower plastic part that holds the battery and all the fuses etc.

Got it all off, screwed the screw out loose then went to reattach the battery in order to start the bike and get it running before adjusting the screw til it was more closed.

As I said, went to reconnect the battery and had that trouble.

Ive never removed fuses on a car when changing batteries before, and Ive had this battery out a few times and back in a few times without any spark and definately without the engine trying to turn over before today.

my rs sparks when you touch the neg, not sure if its becasue i touched the frame or not but batteries do arc when making a circuit, just use a screw driver with a plastic or wooden end and ul be fine

It was quite a spark and a little burning came off it... then the second time there was the attemoted engine turnover thing.

Dont really want to try it again incase the thing explodes or something. Hate electricity, especially in proximity to any possible vapor from the tank or carb.

it wont do any damage, even so a fucked battery would not cause engine problems, you must of knocked something or done sumin wrong for it to effect the engine. And ALL Battery's will spark when you put the terminals on it also depends on the charge level. the spark is nothing to worry about and on cars battery's are different in the sense of they will spark but wont damage anything. As for bikes there abit more fragile but if the battery did cause a short circuit the fuse would of went. Have you not got a kick start ?

None of the fuses are blown and no, no kick start on the 125, just the push button start.

You need to be careful that if you have your moped on and your are putting the battery on it may cause a spark and it can blow the fuse.

Wast the whole point of this Post to ask why there was a spark ? - Replace the fuse anyway but put the batt on first with no fuses on the bike, then put the fuse back in. If she starts and runs, well there u go, if she doesnt then u have a different problem  really not hard to be honest

The ignition should ALWAYS BE in the OFF Position when reconnecting a battery - Fuck me that's primary school shit

Too right when you leave the battery to be fitted at last and for sum reason you put key and put the battery, it has happened to me before once.
