when i start up my runner 125sp i get a banging kind of noise when its idling but not if i rev it,

it sounds kind of like a backfiring sound,

if i turn the idle screw all the way so its on higher revs it seems to quieten down and once the bike is hot it seems to get quieter also

any ideas what it could be?
i will try and record the sound and upload it to youtube tomorow,

lol, when i read your comment i thought "naa it cant be that"
went for a ride today then popped the casing off...
my rolling nut was loose aswell as the variator nut which caused the teeth on the variator and outer puller to wear off leaving my variator able to spin on the crank,
i put another variator/outer pulley on, tightened it all up and its working sweet as a nut again lol

sorry mate ive fixed it now, it was what roxy boy said., loose nut on variator,

to be honest i thought it sounded like the piston catching in the cylinder or something,

if its the same problem i had then just take your transmission cover off and check all the nuts are securely tightened, also check all the teeth on the inner ring of your variator/outer pulley as mine were all shaved off so the variator was spinning which must of been causing the noise at low revs/idle

hmm, seem to of spoke too soon lol,
been riding the bike all day 2day with no problems, parked up for half hour, cum back n started the bike,
Its got a similar sound as last time so took engine case off checked outer pulley/variator, all look ok, but the part of the crank that the variator goes on looks like the splines have worn down in one spot which is letting the plate that holds the rollers in place spin freely on the crank:(

gonna try a brand new malossi vario that i have but pretty sure its the crank splines

Exactly what happened to me last week when my belt snapped ..it's a new crank or buy the mallosi overrange kit but you will have to take out you start gears and stuff ...on the plus side the rollers are 19mm
