I have an Aerox 50cc 57 plate. I was getting around 60mph on the flats but now it struggles to get to 50mp and the power and acceleration is down. Does anyone know what could be causing this ? thanks

So many posts regarding these situations haha. 1 clean the carb - Jets etc. 2. Check rollers and Drive belt. there the bassic checks. Most of the time power loss comes from the drive belt wearing out. Gets a bit loose - Less Grip = Less Power.

iv checked the rollers and belt all seems ok with them . I think the problem is with the carb not letting enough fuel to engine. As sometimes it wont tick over even when it has been ridden a good while and about 2 weeks ago I had a problem it kept cutting out but I cleaned the fuel filter but it wont go as fast. Any ides on what wrong with the carb , cheers

indeed, Also make sure your air/fuel ratio is correct and the idle screw is at the correct setting. The idle one being the big fat screw on the side of the carb, Turn it a little clockwise with the engine running idle until it idles just below the 2000 RPM mark. The air/fuel screw is right next to it.

no problem :) also i do not know the specs for an aerox. However for an NRG power dt you screw it all the way in and its like 2 and a half turns out. Something like that anyway

thanks mate but I took the carb out today and gave it a good clean put it all back in. I THINK I altered the idle and fuel screw correctly . Then I took it for a spin but not change. I still can not get over 50mhp when usually it get up to 60mph and my power plus acceleration is down . Anyone know what else I could try ?

uhm, This is what i would CHECK or REPLACE, Drive belt, rollers, clutch, Spark Plug etc etc dont think just because it starts the spark plug is fine. I have had it before where it will start and run but when i hit the 50mph mark it used to struggle. Because the pressure inside the cylinder has increased alot more and the spark plug may not be keeping up. Try that as thats the next cheapest thing

I changed the plug today . Still no diffrence . I couldn't even get to 50mph with the wind behind me . A few thing I noticed. Were that sometime when going flat out I would. Get a sudden burst of power not much but something was happening. Then sometimes I would loose a bit of power to what I am already lacking . Also when I start it up it will tick over nicley but after a good run it will just cut out when I leave go of the throttle . I just don't know what do next ?

Uhm well i have actually had a similar problem and after spending over £400 pounds on parts ive found the problem  The Piece of rubber that joins the petrol cap to the tank had a MASSIVE split in it. In turn reducing the fuel flow to the carb hence the cutting out. give me 20 mins and i will upload some pics of it. You never know you might have the same problem :L

thanks for that mate but it don't think this it the problem as I have already drained, clean and reconnected all the fuel system as I through there may be a fuel blockage but there was not and every thing was running fine. Anyway I think may be a problem with my rollers . I will take a look at them tomorrow .

ok but u said in a previous post that u had checked them if the rollers are black then there hard to see if there are worn. If there orange or something and have black spots then yes they will need replacing.
