hi last summer i went and bought what i at the time thought was the most ugly bike i had ever seen, but i liked the back lights and it was cheap about a month after buying it i wrote it off by crashing into railings which bent the frame time to start my first proper project so slowly i been getting parts through my plans are 172 gear ups 12.5g rollers white contra spring blue clutch springs renthals 28mil carb polini inlet polini reebblock new frame replace damaged pannels respray and if i feel brave enough to have a go i want to do some moulding with the pannels not sure what im going to do yet and abit of porting and flowing. got my 28mil carb and renthals put forks loom and renthals on new frame the engine i had trouble getting the nut holding the wheel on off even tried using abit of scaffolding bar and managed 2 bend the wrench wheeled engine to the garrage to let them have a go with an impach wrench took them about 5 seconds :wtf: anyways took it home and gave it a little scrup with a wire brush and some soapy water that was taken just after the first round with the wire brush its actualy alot better now...still not gr8 but alot better after abit more polishing update was taking bolts off kickstart case and found out most of them had been rounded by a previous owner managed 2 get all but 2 out and then cut and hammerd 1 out and started on the last. i tried levering the case off and well it went horribly rong the bolt managed to stay in....ut the cases managed to snap update got my new engine here sunday night and have been sanding it slowly since lol just finished 2night and heres what the inside looks like however as the new engine has nut on the outside means i cant use my polini gear ups and it also means i will have my old gears spare if any one wants update got a few bits today got koso clocks and clutch springs on the way is that piston useable or will i need a new one? also ran into a problem with screws holding the variator together update got a few parts today and im dissappointed with the quality of the parts to say the least oh well least they here update got a few things this mornin 3 packages came with about 5mins between each so i managed to get back to sleep then door would ring agen was annoyin had a look at the "instructions" that came with the koso and ive decided they clear as mud...if not worse when i say the instructions i actualy mean one side of an a4 sheet of paper not forgetting that 3/4's of that is to do with mounting the magnet on the disk im not lookin forward to this update well i been working away at the engine and its all finished and together ready to go into the bike the kickstart cover isnt completely finished yet will need more stripping sanded front wheel for paint and im going to do the front wheel and forks aswel will make a start later today plan for front pannel and ive decided on the paint scheme too its gona be all high gloss/satin black with smoked candy green details want to do doge viper stripes in smoked green on the front pan etc jus rememberd all inners are painted too update got some painting done yesterday and today pics dont do it justice its got metal flake in it and it looks bangin in the sun
oh my fucking god........ :msn1: next time just grind the head of the nut off, remove the rest once the covers off oh my GOD
Its worth welding, as stig says in the workshop take it down to a local welders and get them to weld it back on for you. It wont take long according to stig. Ten minutes if the guy can weld properly. None of this was my info. It came from Stig.
ali welding is alot harder, more expensive too. for safety reasons i think i gave good advice, use it if you wish but WHEN it snaps you no why oh shit and its in SR mounts........ it WILL snap
lol i guess i wont listen to the guy at the cbt place then lol he told me it doesnt matter and its only there to keep dust out tbh the metal snapped really easy it was so brittle should it be like that? oh and if any one has any old style 125 ac piggy cases lying around drop me a pm of post in my post on wanted section cheers
iuts not ali, its magnesium ali and its diff to weld.. first of all you have to COMPLETLY strip the engine and get it all hot (this material contains water) it also has to be PERFECTLY clean (shotblasted is preferable) then it needs the edges redressing as the cxracked/broken casting will literally just blow through befor you get ANY penitration.. basicly not any old welder can just do this job, and even those that can its gonna be HARD. look for a MAGNESIUM welder not an ali welder. price the work up, new engine is cheaper and alot more reliable next time, dont hit your fucking ending wiht a big hammer to remove a bolt (never thought id actually have to say that) oh, just to add HAHAHAHAFUCKINRETARDEDHA
cast mnetal is brittal m8 especialy ally n iron n shit if its stressed its even more brittle its strong in certain senses but if u have a flat peice n smash it wv a hammer itll brealk id get it welded but 150 is proposterouse i could get it done for 20 n u dnt need no ally jus labour u have the peice of all dont u ? as i said ythe weld will be stronger than the rest if hes good lol its an upgrade lol
bait u silly bugga lol i got a lump coming in soon fella so ill let u know. snaped engines are a cunt ive had dhl deliver me a verry expensive motor (£600 abz's old one) to find they had chucked it about and the engine mount had broke and cos i signed for it they aint paying up. i was lucky i had some cases lying about and it also gave me possibilitys for more work but still i had to pay for bearings gaskets etc when i could be rideing it.
spose its what happens when you get pissed off at the cases and btw i wasnt actualy hitting the cases to get the nut off i hit the cases when the kickstart cover snapped in rage i know it doesnt make it any better but the breaking hit came from anger not me sitting there being a spastic hitting the cases expecting it to make the engine go faster
lmao it might hurt but yea all the same spose it gives me a chance to learn alot more then i would have originaly but at a price any one have any vids on installing a crank i had a look at haynes manual and they make it looks easy enough but i thought it would be harder
