Hello to all, I have a problem with my sr50, its all stock apart from the removal of all the restrictors ie exhaust, carb baffle plate and variator, I have it running a 65main and the needle is set 2 from the top,it has also had a new bore and piston with rings around 150miles ago.

My problem is I have to run my choke on all the time to stop it bogging (dellorto manual choke), as soon as I go to go past 6/8ths of the throttle it bogs I have main jets that range from 50 to 98 to try, also my air screw is set at 1 1/4 turns out.

I`m thinking it might be something to do with the rollers being to heavy although im not sure so any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks Rob =)

Having to run a 20 odd % bigger jet in a stock bike isn't really fixed tbh. Is it a airbox? Check for air leaks from the carb ect?

sounds like air flow problem not rollers

even with the 67 it runs good and ive got in a new genuine airbox filter and new manifold with reeds the sparky is a nice tan colour which i think is correct?

What is causing you to have to use a huge jet/choke for a stock bike though? That's what you need to find out

right, ive lowered the jet size down from a 67 to a 58 (5 sizes up from stock) and the needle is set at 1 clip before the top ( lowering the needle down ) the air to fuel is set at 1 and 1/4 turns out but it still bogs on full throttle, im not sure if i need a bigger jet or if i need to go down to a smaller jet??

it was running rich so i lowered the jet this was verified by driving 3 miles, cut the bike out and check the spark plug colour which is now a tan brown colour

any idea what i need to do next, ramo ? cheers rob

Could be wrong but doesnt having the needle high lean it at full throttle? It was rich with the 67 or 58? Changing down in big steps like that will only cause headaches tbh lol

What i was getting at was that you might have a underlying setup/running problem thats being masked with a bigger jet. If its running perfectly how you have it then fair enough keep it like that but AFAIK theres no good reason for a standard bike to need any other than a standard jet

hello on my travels on inpectiing the transmission i have a pug belt ? lol dont no how it got there im going to have another go at it tommorw as its been pissing it down as usall,

ill put the standard jet back in and fiddle with the air/fuel mixture and post back =]

do you no what the needle is set at from factory setting ? i was advised buy adrealin pedstop to run a 65 main jet ?ive also cleaned the carb but ill use the ultra sonic cleaner on it and see if that helps might be a bit of hidden crud.

    cheers rob

p.s thanks for your help so far ramo =]

Hmm I'm not sure why they would say that if it was a stock bike  How different were the 58 and the other jet you used performance wise?. Stock needle is one up from bottom possibly my memory is bad lol. Keep in mind though rich can make it boggy as well.
