Well i got my hands on an SR172!

and thats where the good bit ends.... It handles like shit, vibrates like fuck, and doesnt go half like i think they should :(
I keep hearing about peoples 172's wheeli-ing all over the place, yet mine refuses. Dont get me wrong it flies and overtakes everything but it just doesnt feel right.

Also the gearing seems to run out rather fast, i think it hits about 60/70 then starts over revving. I assume its still got the standard 125 gears onit?
For some reason its got a mikuni vm20 with no filter at all on, which seems abit odd (small carb and no filter?)

Its an absolute bitch to start, but im kinda thinking its down to the lack of a filter. Theres also a set of wires coming out the carb which werent connected to anything?

Slap a 1 and two zeros infront of that and youve got yourself a deal!

What could the excessive vibrating be down to though?

vibrations can be anything from bushes and mounts to bearings, is it at a certain speed or just a constant vibration regardless?

it could be a simple case of things being over tightened or mounts being fitted wrong, or as bad as bearings failing

    As for the power

it sounds like you need to get an air filter and re jet accordingly, it my also need varistor weights changing but thats fine tuning for after the jetting etc is done

when i fitted my 172 kit and 25mm carb it would pop the front up under throttle with no tugging on bars, and as for speed i ran stock gears which i think run out at about 70. i clocked mine at 78 tops on stock gearing

Std airbox/90 main jet will work with the std carb! And yes put a gear kit in it.

It only seems to vibrate upto like 30mph, over that its alright, but coming back down its horrific again. I was thinking possibly clutch or variator as it doesnt accrlerate terribly fast - imagine pulling off in 2nd on a geared bike
