I guess there's a mod where you file the inside of the variator so that the rollers can go further out. This pushes the pully closer together and gives more top end. I have an extra variator laying around and plan to try it. I know it's got to be done carefully and the roller ramp needs to stay smooth so the rollers don't get stuck or worn. Anyone do it?
ye works well, with shit variators.. buy a good one easier than all the work involved in doing the job properly
Meh, I have a spare. The one I am currently running the backplate failed. The guy who I bought it from (used) felt bad and offered a NIB Tecnomoto Variator Kit. With 3 variators I plan to mod the stock one. I like tweaking with shit, it's like a hobby. If I can get another 5-7MPH from 2 hours with a dremel then, well.......... it's what makes this scooter hobby fun to wrench on. Just wondering if anyone else has done it, I will have a few variators to run as back-ups.
erm, its n ot tho is it.. its 5mph more from a couple hours work with a dremmel.. COMPLETLY throwing everything on the crank out of balance... so you bought a shit variator, now want to mod it and kill your crank. feel free why not just buy a GOOD variator? the casting on yours wont allow the precise ramp angles an aftermarket one will....
