Re: anyone recomend a cheap setup for my 172 no, read back... cheap things... a carb is relativly cheap and the next logical step.. he has asked for cheap parts to add to get more speed a 300 quid pipe is NOT a cheap part, nor one you want breaking after a week so no, a pipe is not really what you want. unless your handy wiht a welder and you considder 300 quid cheap. you cant go fast for free, the 172 is about the only real cost effective tunningn part for these. carb can be bought cheap and will compliment the 172 well but this is where big power gains for low outlay end grab a 25-28mm and forget pipes for now, everything on the market ether performs diff to stock without making more power (rapes your engine for the same mialage basicly) or makes good power wiht a narrow powerband and just breaks every 2 mins. there are no good pipes for the 172's in my opinion (bar the malossi altho this is verry expensive) a GOOD pipe should give good power at the rpm's your going to use the engine, last a while, not be stupidly loud, cost what it cost in material and labour not these dream prices people charge and most of all not give your engine the choice to throw its rings twice as often grab a carb... if you want to take things further start spending money, there is tunning, there is cheap transport, there is NO cheap tunning.
