Basic totally standard 2010 Gilera ST125. Just got it running, and took it for a spin down the main road.. Indicated speed seemed fast compared to what I was actually doing. Went back hoem and grabbed the GPS off my other bike. Seems the OEM speedo is way out, indicating 55mph when the GPS is reading 45. I have seen that on one wiring schematic, there is a diagnostic port. Can this also be used as a programing port and is there software available for this?
Perfectly normal for a scooter, notoriously unreliable. Use your gps, they are pretty good for within 2mph, and put a white dot at the actual 30/40/50 mph marks on the glass.
mines in kilometres gets really fun when it reads 100 , I know its 60 but a good buzz if you have a pillion
Just to post this info here to confirm it and let it be know if any one else searches for somethigin liek this..here is somethign else I ahve found. As stated, I have found that compared to the GPS, the speed readout is higher than reality, the bike is showing higher miles per hour than the GPS. So..if it is readign MORE miles per every hour travelled...the odometer shoudl clock up more mileage than reality.....but here is the weird thing..it clocks up LESS miles than the GPS ODOmeter clocks up. OK, I suppose we should consider that perhaps that GPS is not accurate too...
Now that is a suprise, Suprised by that sort of sloppiness from a German company like BMW. A cheap far east product yes... Gilera. ? Italien or far east made ? With all the German TUV regs, suprised that there is not some regulation covering speedo accuracy
Its an old beemer though... Gilera parts are made in china but most of the bikes are assembled in italy
