This time a customer came to us with a beast of a Kawasaki KX 500 stroker engine in a RMZ 450 four stroke frame realising that no one makes a pipe to fit this hybrid. Two weeks later and much cone rolling and welding we came up with the TDR Taipan (a snake to the uninitiated ) Tuned length and dimensions correct for the porting on this engine hence it has to snake like that to fit the bike.
that looks the business i noticed though is there going to be enough room for a foot and gear shifter, looks like its going to be a tight fit.
great construction i have tired making a pipe but i am strugling with the tapers getting them round are you using tapered slip rollers ??
Theres enough clearance for the gear lever and the footrest hangers are a fair way back so unless you`ve got clowns feet theres no problem :w00t: Rolling cones we use a machine we made and a set of formers to build them, problem with tapered slip rollers are the small hand cranked ones available (at £1600!) are too small to roll a cone of any length and some end cone dimensions can run over 280mm if rolled in one piece, making a long cone in smaller sections is the answer but it takes more time, more welds and so makes it more expensive in both to build.
yeah i turned up some rollers on the lathe but it was hard to work with and in the end i was just beating them around with a hammer it didnt turn out quite like i wanted it to I hear what you are saying about the roller length I have a normal set of rollers at work but it will not go small enough and it doesnt to tapers
how did i ever miss this thread?? nicely done as always! i gotta have a good think befor our next convo... LOL
if i brought my bike to you would you be able to make me one and how much cheers because i cant find one to fit my waynge sinnis ghost or if u no of any power pipes ro fit it could you let me no plz
