Scavenging process (why you need the transfers equal)

boost effect (why the boost port opens after the transfers)

in this final one you see front he exhaust port side..

notice how the transfers point to a certian place inside the cylinder.. at the point the gas reaches this point the 2 sides collide and start to move back outwards and upwards. the boost port opens and this forces the air up and forward slightly making the mixed stream that would disapate rotate forward and thus filling the top portion allowing the transfers to flood out the lower half and rear of the cylinder.
this is why the hights and widths of the port and also the pipes reflectave phase (not shown in these vids) are so important. timing is everything and geting the opperating speed of the engine timed with the speed the air flows through the ports is crutial to burn all the mixture and not to waste any.

the pipe basicly has to reflect the first pulse of air blown down it back to the face of the cylinder so its pushing the burnt mixture back to the barrel so excess unburnt mixture is forced back into the cylinder thus further compressing the gas untill the point the exhaust port closes.
this is why the right pipe for the cylinder your uising is so important

just a bit bored thismorning an found some vids so sit back an think a bit more about the air that gets you to work of a morning
