Right, what is the law in regards to fixing your bike on your property, can't the neighbours call the police. Ie i have to have to have my bike on sometimes when carb tuning, going to be doing it today. As long as I'm not revving for hours on end and causing a problem , technically neighbours can't do shit can they I understand the smoke and noise can be on going but I like to work on my bike and people always moan about smoke and smell and noise (my bike gets moaned at for noise on idle) pathectic
It's not the working on your scooter it's the noise. Considering it's Christmas weekend some consideration for your neighbours wouldn't go amiss. If you have a noisy exhaust it doesn't help. In answer to your question no they can't really do anything about you actually just working on it but they can do something about the noise nuisance which may bring the council knocking and you will be slapped with a noise abaitment notice and possibly further action that you might not welcome. Best way would be to adjust/tinker then go elsewhere away from the houses and take your tools then do minor adjustments with the engine running.
Yeah i do tinkering on the go, my neighbours dont appreciate my V4 with homemade megaphone exhaust...
holiday times people are wanting to relax so tend to get up the ant real easy and quick. after 11pm the noise laws kick in ( ie no horns / loud noise) and thats usually when the ol boys in blue get called or the council noise abatment officers. old boys in blue could turn up but there is not much they could do, just ask you to curtail the noise in question, porblem is if your running an illegal kit / pipe those boys in blue may not be what your wanting to see, sniffing round the bike and asking lots of questions , and not all ol boys in blue are non bikers a good few are avid bike fans and know about kits and pipes. round here they know what a scorpion pipe is or a leo vince etc etc so its a candlestine work job out down the country roads away from eyes and ears
It sucks though as I can spend hours on my bike and I really do enjoy it...my friends go up empty long lanes and long farmer roads...but you shouldn't have to grab all your tools and fuck off from your home to work on your bike, my neighbours are cool, just don't like noise, weed or 2stroke lol Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
makes a difference as to whether your in a council property, they have so many job worthy twats that could make you life a misery remember its Christmas do it next week
If you do get these jobsworthy t***s come around - just be careful where the bike actually is when they call - it's a fine line between public & private property according to law & could make a huge difference in how things turn out. Was decoking & fixing exhaust on my olde Gp100 a few years ago, police were clocking me when i was giving it a shakedown run (on a private road) -but because i came 'close' to the de-markation line between public/private .they'd tryed to give me gip about it...stand your ground if you know better.as they may 'try' to trip you up or convince you otherwise.
Neighbours can't do jack, or the police or the council. Unless it's late at night of course (after 9pm). Nobody can stop you working on your own vehicles, on your own property, or even on the public highway. How do you think mobile mechanics get on with their work? Sounds like you've got neighbours that just dont like bikes or scooters, or even you personally. If you have a council property, there is a clause in the contract that says you must not upset your neighbours, however that doesn't negate the fact that you are entitled to repair your own vehicles. If they come with the "we will take you to court and get a noise order" bullshit, or possible eviction bullshit, then call their bluff. They know they cannot win any such case, simply because not all people can afford to pay garage prices, but also because people have civil rights
Thanks for that Steve. Always got the answers I need. We get on with both neighbours. They complaine about the smell coming into there windows, I can't help that. I did say shut your window and open your front ones but they replied "we shouldn't have to Ryan" but I shouldn't have to stop doing what I'm doing surely lol.
Next time they say that, just tell them "that's your fucking problem then, I shouldn't have to stop working on my mode of transport for you so get fucked" dont let neighbours tell you what to do, Its your property, your life. Ive had a few neighbours like this, they soon learnt they couldnt push me about.
I'd buy as much petrol powered garden equipment as i could and religiously use them every day at... maximum rpm with a 20:1 oil mix lawnmower included. Your allowed to maintain your garden right ? lool
Folks used to complain when i powered up my Gas powered helicopter , " argh its so noisey " yadda yadda, one day i removed the blades and fired it up, they did not complain one bit, i had to teach them the noise was the blades slamming through the air at near on sub sonic speeds. now when i go drag out a drone or plane, they tend to come out and watch the machines scoot around in awe, ask a lotta questions etc etc. if im running tests i would knock on the neighbours doors and just warn them im going to be running the motors up a bit for the next hour or so so they knew what was going on. same when im burning garden waste and clippings, i usually warn them and find most will close windows etc etc. only time they did complain was when i used to test run my race motors up and down the street lol, mind you a 3lb bag of sugar doing 40mph is gonna hurt most things if it slams into them lol, the kids on the other hand they loved the smell and noise of castor burning motors and the high pitch scream as they flew past at 40mph and more lol
