just letting folks know, I got my moped stolen a few hours ago, the one on my avatar. reg BV51 LCA I restored it from a wreck and now I have no transport. I have sore calf muscles and have difficulty walking more than short distances not like they would care I really hope poiice find them.
Sorry to hear this CGC buddy its a shame these oink just think they can take our scooters for no reason, things we worked hard to build up , save pennys and get all legal. get onto your insurance with crime number to fella
thanks for the responses folks, the theft has been reported and I'm in the processes with insurance. I will be looking for another moped most likely, though I am in no means rich. having a day at the computer and phone. Thanks for the offer of the sym fuggly, will private message you.
Really sorry to here that CGC I know you are very fond of that little Suzuki How was it stolen locks cut/garage break in etc etc.....?
I had it parked in my garden with only my steering lock on, went out later to lock up and it was gone, It annoys me most because I would never steal something or have something stolen in my house, or anyone who would steal, moral principles I suppose. I know how we all feel about our bikes as Tamiya Cowboy says. thing is a 50cc is all I can afford to run at the moment, the freedom it gave me was worth all the effort it took to restore. hope to be back on the road soon.
hopefully insurance will pay out on the stolen machine then that gives you cash to find something cheap. i picked up pippa the skipper for £450 , used facebook groups and likes to find one then went and viewed had a good look over made sure i saw the v5 etc etc and got it filled out infront of me on purchase. im sure you will find a cheap 125 to tide you by buddy i sunk a great big lump of concrete into my lawn and embedded a ground anchor into it, everytime i go out i have to unhitch pippa from it and everytime i return i hitch her back up so much so its now second nature. theres a lotta bikes stolen in norfolk every week here mainly 125's to not so many 50's get took
Theft is rampant in the uk at the mo. Sorry to hear. Hope you find who took it, my guess is its local, try and look around local parks and woods and stuff
yeah, ebay when the insurance pays. was on my way to a ground anchor with a bar through the frame. got the parts last week just hadn't got round to the concrete yet.
really sorry to hear this, I hope it all works out OK and your back on the road soon. It really is a very hard time for those of us who actually enjoy our scooters at the moment, if its not bikes getting stolen its another news story about some scrotes committing awful crimes involving mopeds. I'm concerned in the very near future we'll all be tarred with the same brush, and as a family man the last thing I want is to be seen as some sort of yob or attract unwanted attention. I've considered selling my Runner due to all of this, but decided against it as I know full well it's likely to attract the sort of people I don't want anywhere near my house! talk about a catch-22! I can only hope the situation improves for all of us.
thanks 328isport, other folks do what other folks do, I use mine for going to church and volunteer work, visiting family etc. hope to see you on the road soon.
Had 2 of mine stolen a month ago. A 125 Typhoon 4t and a 400 Burgman. I got the Burgman back within the week as it had been abandoned but despite telling the police to let me know if it was found, as I have a trailer, they got their contractors to lift it. It cost me £150 to get it back as that is the standard charge whether it's a car or moped. I reported it to the insurance but I held off actually claiming as I wanted it back and it was only on fire and theft. I had to claim on the Typhoon as it has not been recovered but with the excess taken off I didn't get much. If you are not in a hurry hold off claiming if you have a large excess and the value of the scooter is not a lot. Remember they take off the excess first. You will also have to declare the claim on any future insurance which may affect your premium.
yeah, thanks. I know what to expect with the excess and all, just needing enough to get something on the road lol. hope your suzuki was driveable when you got it back.
Yeah I went round to the recovery place when the police said they were finished with it. I checked it over and it was basically fine apart from a couple of scratches they had drained the fuel. It had obviously been used in a field. I assessed the cost of recovery and change of locks etc against buying another and decided it was cheaper just to get it back. I assume it was kids and the 400 was not of any long term interest. I expect the TYphoon is either wrecked or dismantled for spares by now. The garage is now like Fort Knox lol Bit of a pain really as I now have to spend some time unlocking everything before setting off. First time in 35yrs I've had a bike stolen.
will be getting another scooter soon. so will be back on the forum soon. you live and learn so some better security will be needed.
got another scooter to restore, (yay) but I can only do the cleaning until the insurance cheque clears. it will remain a mystery until I start with rustproofing the frame.
