I am getting a little rattle off the exhaust. I do notice that where it is clamped on to the link pipe it is sliding in and out a few mm. The link pipe was loose slightly for a while causing backfire till I figured it out. So is it possible that the vibrations could have broken the sealant bond? It was suggested that I get a tighter clamp. But it is the one that came with the exhaust and it is for the runner model.. Next to that I am looking into a custom chrome link pipe made with a fractionally larger width to fit more snug into the exhaust. That plan really depends if I can really tighten up the connection point. Any views?

Well the only bolt responsible would be the clamp. Does the sealant act as a cement like substance....? I don't know about other slip ons but the akrapovic is held on by one bolt so it is prone to more vibration. I understand the need for a clamp but can tightening it be the solution as in it loosened up? I find it hard to conceive that it can apply enough pressure to contract solid steel thus securing connection between slip on and link pipe. Just trying 'again' to avoid forking out money for someone to diagnose it. It could be a simple solution. Re application of sealant maybe...

So my exhuast cracked off my bike (where the bolt links onto the scooter frame). Apparently there was a small fracture their for a while. Long story short, got it welded and the whole exhaust unit re-fitted. Weld looks great and on good and tight. Finally after non stop problems after importing this almost brand new looking st 200 08 from the UK and having to deal... (in order) with filthy carburator, rusted bolts, rusted clamps leading to petrol leaking, buzz/crackling noises and mid rev range, loose engine mounts, broken link pipe bolts and a snapped exhaust bracket... hopefully that this is enough drama I have to deal with. Nearly cost me as much as brand new to repair and keep this going. Finally I can relax......oh wait. electrical buzz/cracking noise is BACK! 3 days after getting it back. It is like the scooter just keeps falling apart and I can't have any peace with it. I used to love the runner, now I can't wait to sell this piece of shit. Worst purchase of my life. Got my childhood hero and it has caused me nothing but stress and money. Had the 125 before that and gave me a fight for 3 months too!

Can anyone tell me, Is the runner just designed to just fall apart and constantly be a pain in the ass? I think the only time I am going to go for another service is when the thing falls apart or stops working. That buzz noise no one can figure out but tightening the mounts did it last time but I got that done not too long ago and I cant just keep paying 150 bucks every time it acts up. Grrr, love the runner but it is just killing me. Had enough of it.
