there cheapo pistons, mahle make a replacment, the head cut is usually a little poor and the ports are lazily cut alot of the time, but this doesnt look too bad, look inside the piston as to who made that.. make sure the squish is correct, you may need a diff base gasget (i used a polini evo gasget kit with mine to get it jus right) altho these sometimes come with a few diff ones. ive ported one to evo spec tho and it was goooooooood fun. not bad for the money atall

make sure you don't just hit on the road and full power because i wont give couple hours for the piston to be in parts, you need to go easy for 100miles or something similar, so the piston and that gets used on the head and that.

i'm running it in, i don't want it to go bang, seems to run well so far. Even running it in it seems to handle hills and things better.

ignore the above advice.. it needs to warm up and cool down a few times and its run in, your LITERALLY cutting the rings.. its a lined barrel not iron, TRHAT running in process will actually create a buildup of carbon, the harder you run an engine the cleaner it is.. treat it like a crosser.. build it, let it warm up gentle, turn it off, warm it up an go for a gentle ride, let it cool down, rag it till it blows up.. simples

for the record, dont regurgitate something you read as knowledge/advice.. as bad advice is bad advice.. if youve not done it yourself, its bad advice

why would the piston wear? the rings are new, the piston comes nowhere near the cylinder untill the rings are worn... the diff between a worn nicasil barrel and a new one are microns.. there is NOTHING to wear but the rings.. ive done this for 10+ years cheers.. as have most tunners.. an iron kit needs gental wearing in/bedding at varying throttle positions but even then you need to full throttle them, just not for extended periods.. few seconds at a time here and there, its part of the process... being too gentle with unknown jetting will blow a new kit just as quick as ragging one.. so best to set the carb up/transmission while running in an iron kit as it will need exactly that, lots of little rides with varying throttle positions and lots of hot to cold changes in engine temp.. by the time the jettings spot on the rings/barrel wall are worn together to a nice smooth seal, piston still dont touch the wall untill the rings are fucked

I have this engine running and it seems to be running well but there has been a change of plan, i have now bought a malaguti phantom f12 100cc complete scooter and i am going to transplant the engine into ours :)
