    hellooooo,
Basically ive got the malossi red sponge and im wondering how eactly you "soak" it? i made a mess soaked it in 50% petrol and 50% 2 stroke oil and lol i lost all my top end. So i took it out washed it with soapy water and dried it now it seems to be working fine.

Yea most people run them dry, but what you done at first was correct, must have been water logged to stangle power like that. Did you wring it out properly?

you use the petrol to clean it haha. dry it out and get some air filter oil if you have to make sure it has some type of oil on it though

or dont bother.,... if your filter wont "filter" particals dry then its a peice of shit.. you oil them to repel WATER not so they work better... fact is the airbox repels water. if your gonna run an open filter run it dry in dry weather... if you oil them the oil is a restriction. a restriction that clears itself over time (affecting your jetting) meaning an oiled filter for sewtup = a dead engine when it dry's out..

basicly, filter oil is a big fat fucking con.. dont use the stuff.. if you have problems "filter oil" is ment to reemedy then your using an open filter where you shouldent. it aint a crosser/sand racer afterall.. how many car filters you see people spray oil onto befor use?
