right guys! today, i was on my way to work,( i have an open fitler) went round a corner ( it was raining) and my ped lost speed bad.. like it revved when i did full throttle, yet wheel went no where!, so then i pushed it.. and it started, then when i full throttle the ped revved loads! and smoked to fuck, yet the wheel went know where , so i had to leave it at this place by the road and get to work! (walked), after work i walked back to where i left ped to see if i cud see problem etc, so i started it with the manual choke to get petrol going through, and it started ok , and turned over fine, no prob, and wheel spun when it was on stand, then as soon as a i sat on it, with full throttle, it went know where jjust smoked, then slowly it went abit, and kept smoking, so i though fuck it and when down the road, and it started slow, then it eventually cleared up and i was back to full speed and everything ( it was still raining) then it bogged a little, then it was fine!. Before this i think ive had problemes with my oil and air mix, and idle mix, so, can any guys have any views as i dont want it to break down 2mrw ! If it does seem like the air filter... what can i do to stop this in future. (its an oopen filter) also chris mate, cudnt contact u today, are u free 2mrw mate to sort this idle mix nd check ped over, can people please leave views though, cheers guys
now the scooter doesnt start, and everythings dry! i get a spark, the carbs fine, airbox is fine, jetted fine.. whats up ? its not starting
original problem you had was obviously water inside the crankcase (sounds like it sucked in a fair bit) also the clutch would have been soaked so will slip for a little while till it drys out. if its not starting and there is a spark you need to check for fuel delivery and then for compression. fuel is easy, try to start on the electric at full throttle then whip the plug out and have a good sniff.. should smell like fresh petrol. id drain the float bowl anyway as it may have water in the bottom of the carb (can happen) check your reeds are in tip top condition and if all this is fine post back and we can help further. just remember a spark with the plug out is one thing, under compression is another, water and 2 strokes are a plugs worst nightmare so change it anyway.
yeh i would mate, dont have spare, reeds in manifold mate yeh? ill try nd get chris to come out later nd pay him, it does get that bad!, my plug, is coated to FUCK in black oil mate, petrol is getting through i can smell it, but the plug is coated from head to toe!
take the manifold out and the reedblock will be below this. if there still undamaged at the end hold it up to the light and see if any escapes. if so flip the reeds over, the bend in them will now push them back against the block to seal nicely. this wont effect full throttle tho as there is always a positive or negative pressure (well, unless you count the time the piston stops at tdc/bdc 150 odd times a second)
right minor, do hope ur back in time , checked manifold, spoke to slayer, and ive got gaps on one reed and its chipped in the corner, so ill mix nd match, then let u knw what happens, could be the problem tho ? was it he air filter then or not ?
it will be the filter and water in the engine/carb/clutch ether way.. its just best to check the reeds as one of the first things as they can cause some strange symptoms. wack a new plug in and ride it till it clears. id personall put some oil in the plug hole and the fuel just to be safe as water fuel and oil seem to mix well and disapear quicktime meaning no oil on any of your vital componants.. only need a little dribble in the plug hole and around 10ml in with every litre of fuel just till the strange symptoms subside as its better to know you have oil in there than wonder if your gonna seize due to it.
right guys, it wasnt the water as once again its broken down, can someone please let me know whats up with it, as its now broken down again.. and not in the wet! so please guys help asap!!
