    more than likely lighter.

    better ramp angles

and some have more surface area for better top speed.

    a few things their ;)

Ive been looking at these too but am a bit confused. Do they not come with the outer ramp aswel? Surely they ramp angles wouldnt match between the two plates?

old old old subject.. use whatever one you want to buy. read about for other peoples findings, some come wiht a lighter outer pulley, the inner pulley angle is the same, the RAMP the ROLLERS sit on INSIDE the variator aswell as the backplate.

Just my 2p worth. I don't think aftermarket variators are worth the money. They don't increase speed, just acceleration, which you can do with lighter rollers.

When SCOOTERING magazine had one fitted to their GTS 250, by Readspeed scooters, they managed to REDUCE the top speed by 3mph. :msn1:

I've got a Doppler one lying around for a Minarelli engine. I haven't bothered to fit it, because it looks the same as the original. (and i've given the sliders away!)

lighter rollers doesent give acceleration, it gives the illusion of acceleration by revving like mad.. the RIGHT rollers will give you the best top end AND fastest acceleration regardless of rpm. there are MARGINAL changes to top speed/accel trade off to be had but its LOOSING one and gaining nowhere neer as much of the other, so pointles... multivar makes a big diff, polini makes a big diff, polini overrange DOES give more top speed aswell as acceleration., the 50's have a DEPRESSING curve on the torque drive ramp, this is the main downfall.. fit both torque drive and variator, if there sno increase your doing somthing wrong

erm, think ill rely on a tried and tested manufactor not a tunner for this one.. aftermarket variators are made for a reason, the likes of polini dont make things that do nothing. and i for one ALWAYS get beter results wiht aftermarket variators than stock (once setup) jb told my friend to get rid of his mhr variator for a 180 as it "had a flat spot at 60" erm, change the rolers and rejet mabey?
psn told everyone theres no need for a contra spring, as they get the curve perfect without them (erm, not quite the idea boys) aswell as not using torque drives.. BUT then said that the polini has a nasty hole of missing torque below 15mph (erm, mabey try a spring) tunners all go by what they find.. if anyone recomends a stock unmodified part over an aftermarket or modified equivilant they really havent try'd hard enough, there is prittymuch FUCK all i wont touch in an engine these days.. like, literally everything gets atleast a little cut/smooth out. variators do more than just go in and out, rates of acceleration vs centrifugal force is somthing that you can REALLY take advantage of.. a variator made to deliver fuel econimy isnt the idea. hard revs, best power, fuck fuel.. this is the idea. same with 50's and there DIRE variator's/torque drives... literally a torque drive variator and 70 kit will transform a bike. even one part at a time will be HEAVILY noticed if setup correctly. you can skip things, as its marginal gains (i skip alot and just go for bear minimum) but if i had things my way there wouldent be a single piggy part in my engine, even a case would be a decent cast/cut. only thing i dont touch is the bearings as c4's are too fine tollerance and ceramics are FAR too expensive.. other than that id be redesighning everything tools permitting. any tunner that doesent say the same is fake/cant be bothersd anymore/thinks they actually do know everything

get new sliders for that doppler vari it makes a diff specialy at top speed
and yeah what minor says is true i had a polini vari and torque drive on a 50cc with hebo pipe i was pissign about for ages setting it up right but when it did it was well faster then other bikes.
some peeps said when got around 45mph it strted sounding like a turbo then it fuked off lol i nevver noticed it tbh

Well, if the standard Minarelli sliders fit the Doppler, it might be a 5 minute job for tomorrow to bung it in the Slider.

I swear by the multivar, i've had 2 and will be having more.

makes the bike accelerate soo much smoother in my opinion.
