Basically, was riding my aerox and it started bogging down as if my spark plug had gone, so i pulled over to check, and just as i did, there was a poping/cracking noise...... i got home and took my carb off to find one of my reeds had snapped in half (carbon reeds), and the other had cracked. so i replaced them with the standed ones after i removed some of the broken reed that was resting on my crank. I replaced the reeds with the block back to standard reed block and reeds, and still wont start:/ ... could this be due to having a standard reed block back in or has any of my broken reed damaged anything, that will cause it not to start? ..... thanks tommo.
did you make sure there was no bits of reed in the cases? and do you know what caused the reeds to snap and crack?
when you say did you make sure there were no bits of reed in the cases, do you mean if i've split the cases, because i haven't..... and i have no idea of what caused the reeds to snap/crack :/...... also i attempted to take my top end off today to find a head bolt fully rounded... its near enough circle, any ideas on that either??? thanks
you can get a tool for removing rounded nuts you could try buying 1 of them or maybe buy some new cylinder studs and cut the nut off then replace the studs and check the condition of your piston/bore and check for any other debry
yes, thanks. Will check when i eventually get top end off... where could i get hold of one of the tools, do you know?
carbon reeds tend to snap more than stock plastic ones just think yourself lucky it wasnt a metal reed some blockes come with otherwise would be a new crank aswell. when you put the old reeds back on did you check to see if there tight and flat against the block making a good seal and if you hold them upto the light you shouldnt see any light coming through any gaps.
