hey im new to this but im having some problems with my 2000 yamaha aerox yq 50 and could do with some wise adice!

i brought this bike off some one who apparently did alot of miles on it.
it will start on the kick start and electric start but the battery is dead. when it finally does start revving it keeps cutting out. although i have had it running a few times. when it is running though there is a great loss of power goin up hills. like 5 mph up a hill any ideas? anyone?

i have heard it may be a blocked carb or no little spark getting to the enginge.
i also asked some one who knew abit about bikes and they said it may be something to do with the rollers? what ever they are!

i have no idea about bikes (except some basics) so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    thanks alot

right i would get a new spark plug, take your old one out and replace it with the same model plug. then if no joy take your carburettor out and clean the main jet and pilot jet. once you get it running then you should worry about rollers because they decide how the bike runs speed wise, not running wise.

I think the problems with the bike could be a couple of things, if its an old bike then obviusly the tanks getting old, 8 years i believe, and you dont know what conditions the bike was rode in so there may be dirt or grime clogging up the main jet, air box or accumulating in the float bowl

I would also advise you to change the air box filter -strongly reccomended as they are cheap to replace

an easy option to sokve this problem is to take the piices of the bike, making sure around the carb (intake manifold, air box etc is clean, otherwise youll just get more dirt back in the carb which is what you dont want, spray carb spray in the float chamber and underneath the carb and main jet, and blast some air through the jets if you can get hold of an air supply.

if its bogging up hills it could be due to worn rollers or the wrong size ones, your best bet is to check the variator, measure the rollers and weigh them if you can and possibly order half a gram lighter, a gram lighter and maybe the same weight if the are worn (have flat faces on the plasticy coating)

if you cant get the variator off, use a variator locking tool, an impact wrench with a 17/19mm impact socket (forget which size it is now, sure its 17mm tho), or a piston blocker

for more information on how the rollers work and where to find them try the search engine on here, as this topic has probly been covered more times than youve had hot dinners, theres also step by step picture guides on how to change the rollers on the net

piston rings and crank seals, proabaly caused by poor oil and therefore damaged main bearings.
