check this out.. wot are these allen keys for... can i just get a normal 3mm allen key and drill a hole in the center of them.. coz im getin a polini reedblock and carbon reeds and a boost bottle for show.. UPDATE: DONE!!!
im sure drilling an allen key could work i had the same problem tryin to get mine off, realised they had the little nipples inside lol
go to your local hardware shop, buy a security screwdriver set, comes with all them weird screw driver heads. got mine for a tenner
If your on the cheap, get a punch and hammer, just knock the middle out molegrips are also you friend..
Anti-tamper/anti-muppet/anti-monkey/anti-fuj-yammy bolts imp: Centre punch, drill, remove, replace with new stainless allen bolt
o tah.. tweak.. :w00t: ive dun em now anyway, got rid of the center bit and extracted with a 4mm allen key. just need ma new reedblock set now.. :nerd:
when i got mine out i just used a hammer and a chisel, tapped it round so it was loose and undid it with me fingers
mine are all rusted up tho. i undid 1. then i put sum wd40 on the other coz it was siezed on. gona giv it ago agen 2moz and if i round the face of the allen nut slightly im gonna be stuck.. and wont have no polini reeds..
SUMMARY!!! all is well. got the old allen key bolt out in a jiffy this morn.. fiited the new polini reedblock and bolted the intake mainfold back on with sum new 8mm bolts, stainless of course. fitted ma boost bottle aswell.. im runnin sum siiik BOOST!! LOL.. not! the carbon reeds made difference in the acceleration defanetely and its made it sound differently aswell. it makes more of a tinny noise when the engine is slowing down from higher revs...and it sounds like it has the tone of a mx bike a tiny bit.. duno y tho.. do you reckon tht this crank can take a 70 kit, malossi sport kit. i thought that it was gonna be in well worse condition to be honest becoz its dun 11k. but i was surprised at the condition of it.. what do you men reckon???? 11k crank.. 11k pison.. in the bottom pic, if u look closely theres scratch marks on the actual piston itself.. but the cranks absoloutly mint.. i think the owner before frainey was a complete wanker 2 b honest, he must of ran it on shitty garden lawnmower oil.. arc:
piston has been run hard from cold, you can't tell from looking at a crank, the feel of it is the key to knowing if it's up to the job or not. i suspect not.
piston is deffo scored to fuck.. nothing a new piston and a quick hone wont fix tho. or a 70 kit. the crank itself looks to be worn slightly mopre on mag side as the lil shim on the crank is thinner.. you can messure with the engine assembeld with fila guages between the conrod and shims and compair with the book figure. people need to remember if a cranks gonna go its gona go so you might awswell put a 70 on. it would blow with the 50 kit anyway just a bit sooner with the 70. its not MASSIVE ammounts of strain on the crank unless uyour usign an ali kit
i wanted a polini cast or a malossi cast. just a cheap kit for about 90-100 quid. what makes an ali kit more powerful over a cast, i dont want one though im just interested to now bout different piston materials. can you get scooter pistons with a silicone content, i heard that it was meant to be the best material for a piston.. thanks all..
An alloy kit dissipates heat better than an iron kit... so alloy is the norm on kits higher than sports spec... its the porting that makes the power rather than the material the barrell is made from
if u have liquid cooling the ali kit becomes uneeded.. doesn't it??? im gona try portin ma 70 iron kit.. is stuntbase a good site to use for port maps??? thanks all.... i believe in preperation as a very important step when trying something new to me out..
erm, if you cant see the benifits in aliminum with watercooling i sudgest you read up for a couple years befor you even think about taking so much as a file to a barrel..
an ali kit with l/c wiil just run a lot cooler wont it... cooler engine means an engine capable of more power and will run alot efficiently.. im stupid, just wasnt thinking. . im not completely enigine dumb. ive worked with 4T air cooled pit bike enigines and learned alot from them.. 2T enigines are a whole different principle... but just as complex.. has anyone got ani pics of a ported l/c barrel?? id just lyk sum to get a better idea of porting.. thanks
i have plenty.. not gonna show em tho.. usually it costs you 200+ to actually see the work that goes into a barrel (when you buy one) best way is look at the most expensive kits on scooter attack as they usually have pics of the huge ports. will soon see the difference. any decent 2t tuning book will have layouts in there
