It's summer and i've finished school so i decided buying a couple of scooters would be a good idea, and then do a bit of work on them and hopefully make a little profit, while having something to do, and also learning along the way. On this '98 Aerox i'm planning on doing and re-using almost every part as i've officially ran out of money and i just need to start getting a bit back in to fund the other few scooters i bought, the only bit i'm gonna be buying is a seat as this one is well and truely fcked. If you're looking for customisations, this isnt the topic to follow as i'm only really changing the colour scheme, generally cleaning it up and then getting it running again, this blog type thing will just encourage me a little most likely. How i got it; Stripped down the plastics.. Paint was annoying to remove, it kept chipping off rather than just flatting down, Finally got some stuff primed, Then some painted.. This bit was a bit damaged but i got to the point where i just wanted to get the prepping and painting done with so i skipped out the task of fibreglassing, Decided to put the speedo cowling on the bike to see how the colours went together, From; To; Some clear lenses would be nice although i actually quite like the white/blue/orange combination, and the fact i don't wanna be spending lots on a '98 bike, I'm now in the process of getting it running before i put anymore panels on as they'd only get damaged in the process, and then i'm going to spray the transmission cover. 8/6/09 fiddled with carbs and where the pipes go, still wont go and considering its an S reg with god knows how many miles on asthe speedo was clocked, i've been advised to see what happens when i put new piston rings in, so ive decided to just invest in a new top end, AND im still waiting for my seat to arrive!
thanks, the only non-standard item is most likely going to be the exhaust, simply because of the fact i don't have another haha, if anyone has an aerox unripped seat for sale, i'd be interested forgot to mention, i'm suprised the engine wasnt seized, the radiator and everything linking to it was bone dry, it took a while to let it all go down the pipes again haha, but now the water tank is full and not lowering so thats a good indication that its not leaking
tried to get it running again today, pulled the carb off to try another and forgot which pipe goes to where on the carb, ffs. now i'm screwed
main pipe from the tap goes to the one nearest to the air filter. (thick pipe) vacume pipe on the bottom of the tap goes on the oposit site. (thin pipe) small thin pipe from the side of the engine goes on the one nearest to where the vaume pipe goes. (two stroke oil pipe) two pipes on the top of the head: right hand side one goes at the bottom, left hand site one at the top.
yeah i used tins, i was quite happy with the finish considering i barely prepared it as i spent sunday afternoon, monday/tuesday and wednesday from around 9.30am-10pm each day with a few tea breaks and stuff, and some of thursday sanding down and priming, and barely got anywhere as it took ages to chip off all the flakey paint on the undertray and the bottom front panel (if that makes sense), and it still didnt smooth out that well, may have to re-paint the white front panel though as its already got a big dirty oil mark on fiddled with carbs and where the pipes go, still wont go and considering its an S reg with god knows how many miles on asthe speedo was clocked, i've been advised to see what happens when i put new piston rings in, so ive decided to just invest in a new top end, AND im still waiting for my seat to arrive!
