Hi everyone, yet another thread. My aerox accelerate really fast to about 20mph but then the revs drop and it only really gets into the pipe at 45-50mph. The spec is; 17.5mm carb 4.8g rollers (i think). I think the rollers are too narrow as they clatter around a bit. Doppler sr3 exhaust pm tuning clutch, blue springs (bites quite high) I might go and get some 16x13 rollers as i think thats what tehis performance variator takes, the 15x12 ones seem too smal like i said. How heavy should i go? Could it be a jetting problem instead? Thanks
Jetting wise, youl ned to know whats in their. you need to upjet for the exhaust from stock. around 10% increase from the stock size main jet Definatly sort the roller weights out so the fit correctly, they need to roll smotthly not bounce around haha As for the weight of the rollers this is tricky and im currently setting mine up. To explain my process: i started on 7.7gr with the sports echaust and found it didnt rev out very fast and when it changed into second gear the revs dropped right down below the powerband I then tried 6 gram rollers, acceleration was much improved but it wouldnt change into second, it simply revved up to 9-10k rpm So then i tried 3 of the 7.7 rollers and 3 of the 6 grams (giving an individual weight of 6.8 grams overall) The bike now pulls well and changes into second, however it changes a little bit too early but not by much so i have ordered 6 x 6.5 gram rollers which should increase the revs a little and still allow for second gear to change No bike is the same, if your bike sounds like any of the above stages, then try lowering or raising the roller weights. By the sounds of it you need to lower the weights so the revs are raised, which will help when it changes into second as it will be closer to the power band, does that make sense. its all trial and error
I think I've got 4.5g in my Aerox, I'd say mine are too light for me. I only get around 45mph with my S3R on, which is shite. Every single bike is different, your bike could have been a Monday morning bike, or a friday afternoon bike. They will all run differently with different weights, so trial and error is crucial. Maybe go up 0.3g if that's possible... Let us know how it goes.
Thanks for the info everyone I took the carb off to find that it had a 90 jet! put an 86 in and it seems a bit better. Oh and i took the coolant circulation off the carb, just put a bit of tubing on one nipple and joined it to the other ( same on the engine) I think the rollers are jamming up causing bad gear changing, im going to get some 4.5's and 5.0's tommorow in the right size.
