My '98 aerox has good compression and a good spark, yet it doesnt want to go, i've kicked it and kicked it and it won't go, and i've set the powerpack thing up which is plugged into the mains so i cvould use the electric start but it just whirs and whirs, over and over and doesnt fire up, i'm presuming its either stale fuel, or the fact the engine was flooded at the time, i've left the plug out with a rag over the head to stop any dirt getting in there, but to let the excess fuel evaporate too. The wiring is all fine i beleive, as the electric start work and would start the bike if the engine was fine, all lights and indicators work, and the horn works. I'm going to drain the stale fuel and put some fresh stuff in tomorrow, but if this fails, does anyone else have an idea of what it could be?

drip some petrol through were the spark plug goes and kick it once and see what hapens if it starts for a second then that means thers no petrol goin thru

ignore that... NEVER put fuel in a plug hole..... its not liquid your engine runs on, its atomised fuel in air (as in a gas/mist) putting fuel in the p[lug hole will prittymuch fuck your piston fairly quickly. if it does work you still dont know what the cause of it is so theres fuck all point doing this bodgery.. many times ive gone over this. its pikey mechanics

check your reeds, new spark plug (a spark doesent mean its sparking in a compressed enviroment) undoo the carb and turn it upside dwn just to see if fuel comes out, if it does the carb is getting fuel so the tap is fine, so whip the bottom off and check the jet isnt blocked... but ye id put my money on reeds first off

ok so ive fiddled with a few carbs, petrols definitely getting through, it does sound like it wants to go but just wont, ive been advised to change the piston rings but if i do this i'm just gonna get a whole new top end kit, the only thing putting me off this is the fact its £70 down the drain if the top end is fine..

any enigne sounds like "it wants to go" if it doesent it means FUCK ALL

you can take a carb off a bike, remove the wiring and still kick it and it will sound like a running engine. means nothing

check the reeds. do it after kicking it over a few times, once you remove the reedblock there should be a mist of air/fuel comming out of the engine. if not then its not geting fuel or the seals are fucked. if the reedds are fine and theres mist there then yes rings. but it DOES sound like reeds or oil seals.
