    Hey Guys

I have a pretty much brand new 08 Yamaha Aerox 50, the guys at yamaha derestricted it on the first day and was doing fine, about 43mph, but i took it in for the first service last week and ever since i got it bak it struggles to reach 30....does about 35 max, acceleration increased a bit for sum reason but the top speed just shits me now, oh plus i already checked to see if it was definetly fully derestricted and it still is, i rang the guys at work and they said all they did was change the spark plug and the oil....so i dont know

any idea whats wrong guys?....cheers in advance

well before it went to the garage it was going what you would call quick and now after theyve had it its going slow. they must have done something to it then. check your variator and rollers. is the exhaust de restricted yeah?

cheers for quick reply mate, yer exhaust is derestricted as well as the variator, yer i was thinking the shop did sumthing aswell but i called them up today and yer like i said, all they did was put in a new sparky and new engine oil, surely that wouldnt make it go slower obviously, and yer i would go n check rollers and that but i dont have the right tools or anything :( , do u have any idea what they might have done mate?

they might have put the restrictor back in. most kids i know only de restrict their bikes after their first service as apparently it makes your warranty invalid. you need to take the variator off id do it for you but im not going to australia to do it lol. you'll need a loacking tool or an air gun/impact wrench to get it off. 43 mph doesnt sound quick for a "fully" derestrcited aerox anyway mate.

hmm....well i checked the exhuast, thats definetly been derestricted, and about half an hour ago i took off the side cover and checked the variator for the metal washer restrictor but it wasnt there....so unless ive missed sumthing then i'm pretty sure that its fully derestricted, and yer maybe i'm wrong about the speed, just we dont use miles in australia but i kinda have to for u guys, it did about 68-69 kph last week flat out, but now does about 55 kph after the service, plus remember its stock, no mods at all, and its only done about 450 miles, and yer i'm gonna ivest in sum tools and mods soon so yer, once i do ill see what weight the rollers are in there...cheers mate

my aerox did 80 kmh just standard but fully de restrcited as you same exhaust and everything. the optimum weight for my bike is 5.5g rollers. i have no deadspots and acceleration is respectful for a stock bike lol.

hı ıt could be the exhaust not closed the restrıctors properly and exhaust wıll not gıve out the burnt gass out properly so start your bıke put your hand or anythıng on the back of the exhaust where the hole ıs and see ıf your bıke wıll cut out and gıve a lıttle rev and see any aır comıng out some where.

hey alperin, yer i'm not actually to sure if the exhuast was derestricted properly, and i just went then and started the bike then i put my hand over the hole and it cut out instantly, but what do u mean exactly by see if theres any air coming from somewhere?

when they de-rıstrıct your bıke they cut off a pıpe whıch ıs on the exhaust wıll be at the bıt where ıt connects to the engıne. they cut that off and weld to close ıt ıf they dont do ıt good enough ıt can have aır comıng out from there and looses performance. check there jus put ur hand over ıt. alperın

Hi just to tick another thing of the list, did the mechanice check the air filter ie clean it or oil it as he may not of seated it right as when I change my aerox filter to a mallosi one I did not seat it right and had the same problem you are having but once I has a good seal and it was seated properly it was fine so it may be worth asking if they inspected the filter or took it out ;)
