Hi all, firstly thanks for taking the time to read my first post,
I am having a problem with my 50cc aerox

1.Bike starts fine and ticks over fine.

2.The first 20 meters or so the bike pulls away quickly, but after that its like hitting a brick wall, feels like fuel starvation.

3.The bike is fitted with a gianelli exhaust, sports clutch, sports variator and k&n style airfilter

4.I have read every thread on upjetting the bike and have tried standard 86,88,90,92,95,98 (yes i am sick of taking bowl off bottom!)To no avail! The bike still does it!

5.Next i have tried cleaning the carb , by removing it, all jets out and carb clean spray down ever hole and jet etc.....Still no better!! And have tried sucking down the vacuum hose from the petrol tap and petrol comes down the other hose.

6.Next thing i have tried is adjusting the mixture, the bike runs more consistant but feels like something is holding it back, as when you slightly press in the choke it accelerates at lot better, now on saying that you might think like me its running too lean! I have tried the mix screw all the way in and one and a half turns out just like i have read!and have tried it all the way in and all the way out with marginal difference.

7.Does anyone think this could be a faulty carb or a faulty fuel tap?

8.Cant see any burst or blocked hoses or any other vacuum related faults

Sorry to waffle on but its been doing my head in!! never known such trouble !!
    Cheers Jon

I would try and replace the fuel tap as it may be blocked, how many miles/kms has the bike covered? Also revert back to the standard airbox until you have a bigger carb than the standard its not worth it, gives no additional power and increases fuel consumption. Also it makes the bike ridiculously hard to set up.

Hi, Thanks for the reply, will have to try and get a standard air box and filter and a new fuel tap wouldnt hurt, cheers.

Pretty good answer by brettfield really...

Could also be a roller issue. If they were much too heavy.

If it still does it say at half throttle then its not going to be an issue with your main jet. Our carb guide explains how each part of the carb effects different throttle positions.

When i had a 50 and i put a k&n air filter on it i ended up trying about 20 other jets and eventually i ended up having a 102 jet in and it worked fine after that

Hi, i have put the standard air filter on but with a malossi filter in it and it is much better but now appears to have a sort of flat spot in the middle range if you like,
It picks up alright to about 25mph then climbs slowly to around 40mph then eventually has a second wind and picks up to around 50mph, was a bit dissapointed really as when i had the other air filter on and you pressed the choke in it flew round to over 50mph, any ideas? Jon.

You don't want to use the choke other than to start the bike and warm it up, its not a NOS button lol! Now that it runs okay you want to check the rollers for wear. If they look squared off they are knackered and need replacing. When were they last replaced.
