Hi everyone, im having trouble with my 09 aerox (again!) i have noticed when its at full throttle it starts bogging and then cuts out its recentley had a 17.5 carb put on and open airfilter jetted to suit. i also fitted a boost bottle yesterday that made it worse but was doing it before. any one have any ideas? Thanks
Mate, please throw the boost bottle in the bin.. lol They are USELESS and are pretty much for looks Only, they do shite for/to your engine
Yh i know it does f*uk all, apparently it saves petrol.. the only petrol its saved is me pushing it home only bought it for a 10er off a mate so no harm done thanks anyway chubz
The boost bottle is a total waste of time so bin it and while your there ditch the bellmouth. Your bike will run much better with a standard airbox with the snorkel removed if necessary. Has it got a 70 kit or is it a 50?
we had a similar problem with the zip. On full throttle it felt like it was missing and bogging down. One tweek of the mixture screw sorted it out
Its just a 50 for now mate and i might put the airbox on as it drinks petrol!! and i will have a look at the mixture screw, thanks for your help
If it's a fifty keep the snorkel on, in my experience you only need tit removed for a 70 kit as it draws 40% more air on each stroke. Do you know what size jet is fitted?
95 but i think thats the reason its bogging, i have ordered a jet box 75-95 so hopefully that is the problem
Jet sounds too big I run a 70 streetrace with a 17.5 dellorto standard airbox (snorkel removed) and it has an 84 main jet.
Really?! ive just put a 85 jet in her and its alot better but still does it after a while at top speed so shall i go down to 80? or maybe 75 and airbox?? .. please help
Put the airbox on and start from there. The airbox not only filters the air but rebounds the pressure wave from the previous stroke to help the next charge. It will run much better with it on.
just put a 75 jet in and airbox on and snorkel was removed it runs better and sounds better but still boggs on full throttle is this the air mixture screw? i havnt touched it before
No the air mixture screw affects the idle jet only. The issue sounds like it's with the main jet, try going up one and see how it goes. If it's worse try one below and see how that is.
The thing with jetting is that it could be anything it varies on different bikes,... Bizzle youve got a 17.5 carb..streetrace, std airbox with snorkel removed and 84 main.. Whereas iv got a 17.5 carb too, polini sport, std airbox with snorkel removed, and i use a 100 main. any smaller and it wont start...any bigger and it wont move.
Totally agree Chubz, the difference is probably down to your Polini kit and my stage 6 kit which produce totally different powerbands.
I had a 90 in there when i was using the 50 cylinder.... God knows whats up with my bike haha... Is there much difference in power ?
The Polini Sport and Stage 6 Streetrace produce similar power but the streetrace has a much wider powerband keeping maximum power at higher revs . That's why a streetrace doesn't need a gear up kit.
So i should have a gear up kit really ? afaik im on the standard one.... but got a mulitivar variator, not sure if that matters lol
Take a look at this report, basically the answer is you should have one. http://www.pedparts.co.uk/blog/do-i-need-a-gearup-kit-with-a-malossi-or-polini-sport-70cc-kit
