Hi hope some one can help ive fitted my stage 6 streetrace 70cc bore on my aerox with the polini variator with 4.4 gram rollers and both the little and big clutch springs, running standed carb with jetted carb and the polini cone filter, How ever when pulling of its not the greatest but can deal with it but when i hit 30, let of the throttle and try powering again theres nothing there. When i fully stop and rid again its fine to 30 and does the same as noted before? any one have any idea what this can be? I have a spare engine at home with another clutch on. Im woundering if mines quite fare from been used again as the shoes dont look 100% Shell i try the other clutch see if thats any good? Cheers Adam.
I had a spare clutch at mine and it had yellow clutch springs in it ! its alot better now but still not brilliant, Im now going to replace the torque spring with my blue polini one, Hopfully it will be much better now! Ill keep you updated.
if you only have the standard 12mm carb with an open filter your wasting your time and this could well be the problem.put the airbox back on and jet up about 10 % from standard and take it from there.open filters on small carbs are too much hassle. if you want an open filter buy the dellorto 21mm black there awsome and soo easy to set up and youl be happy with the power increase.
I've got an Aerox with a stage 6 streetrace 70cc kit, stage 6 pro replica exhaust, top racing (doppler) crank, 17.5 dellorto with standard box ( snorkel removed) pollini variator with 4g weights and an unknown clutch bought cheap off fleebay with blue springs . I need tweak the carb a bit as it's running a little rich but it wheelies off the throttle and my mate in his car was showing 65 on his satnav and I was pulling away from him with more left in it. I might put heavier weights in it as it can catch you off guard when you give it some throttle . it will also make it easier to cruise at lower speeds and still have the torque to accelerate.
It's the Dellorto carb and it;s got an 84 at the moment. I can't quite get the first part of the throttle right though. It seems a bit rich as it hesitates a bit yet if i lower the needle it's too weak. i recomend that you buy a box of jets and have a play around as each scooter seems different even though they are similarly specced.
Forgot to say that i tried it with the standard gurtner carb upjetted and it wen't OK and could easily see off all of my freinds 50's but the 17.5 carb gave it a real kick in the arse and almost spat me off .
Will do defo need a new carb though 12 is just way to small but is possible to work, Having a big tinker tomoz hopfuly will work ok!
The only issue I had with the larger carb was the airbox, Pedparts recomend using the standard airbox so i bought a new malosi filter for it. I just could not get the bike to run until I took off the snorkel. Have a look at Pedparts blog where they compared carbs, a 21mm is a waste of money on setup like ours, a 19mm should be good but I decided to go with the dellorto 17.5 as they got a good name and parts are easy to get hold of.
i had the same problem.. 21 mm carb with airbox just didnt work couldnt get it to run ..but open filter works and runs mint .
