Hi guys new to forum bought a aerox 50 cc Yamaha as a project not real savvy on mechanics it starts but won’t engage the back wheel the belt looks new but loose I can turn the clutch by hand and wheel will turn any help would be grateful thank you
The belt should not be loose, but not very tight Maybe a seized variator or rear pulley If you take the spark plug out you should be able to turn over and if you do from belt side you can see if belt turns or not Have known the belt to rust to the rear pulley if stood for a few years
Can I ask why remove the spark plug ? Belt is quiet loose looks new but I can turn the clutch when I had cover off the back wheel turned pulley seems fine and varater seems fine to
the outer part of the clutch in connected to the wheel through the gearbox so will turn wheel The inner part of clutch is part of the pulley behind If you try to turn engine it should turn rear pulley and not slip belt Reason to remove spark plug is so you can turn engine more easily
