I will be taking my a2 restricted licence in about 2 months and to all the people who have done the test i would really like to no if you thought the test was hard or a piece or cake as i am one of the panicey type of people hehe thanks alot
I've done the DAS test, which I believe is the same but on a 500cc +, and if you're instructor says you're ready to do the test then just try not to panic and you should be fine. It's not difficult so long as you remember what you've been taught and make sure that head looks like a nodding dog checking your mirrors and blind spots all the time!
hi ijust done my full a2 auto test last week, passed with a clean sheet.. ithought it was well easy, specially if youve been driving two years on a cbt.. they just take you thru different speed zones, 15 mph 20 mph 30 mph and 40 mph zones.. i just spent most of my time plodding along at 25.. nick
You must be careful to do the speed limit when it is safe and appropriate to do so, they fail people quite often around ehre for failing to make progress, i.e. not going fast enough within the confines of the law.
havnt done it myself, but my 3 uncles took it mid last year and all passed! said its just like the CBT but on bigger bikes with a theory and the theory is easy compaired to a car theory........although the theory might have gone up now? i know it was going harder at the start of 2008 i want to do mine this year but cant because im 20 and will end up with a restricter for a few years so might aswell wait till start of next year to do it
did my a2 2 years ago was piss easy, just remember what you've been told and don't make any un-necessary manouvers, watch your speed, on your emergancy stop, if you lock up a wheel, don't worry, make it clear that you know what your mistake was and the instructor should be ok with it, everyone makes mistakes. basically treat it as you would a lesson. don't be afraid to do the speed limit either, when i took mine i got a ticking off for not doing 70 in a 70, but the bike would only pull 64. Good luck
Did mine 3 years ago You've been riding for a while I take it, in that time, you will have picked up bad habits. You know how to ride, but you may just need a freshen up on your signalling and mirror checks etc. I found it easy, don't give up or panic. As Wobbly said, one of my two minors unk: was for not speeding up quick enough to the speed limit, don't go madly up to it but make good progress to get to the required speed, seems to be something they pick up on alot. Good luck
did my direct access few years ago they wont ask you to do anything you havent done with your instructor just make sure its obvious you are looking in your mirrors
I had 5 full days inclduding the test, in retrospect I didn't need that much at all, could have easily done it in 3 days but I wasn't sure when I booked it!
did my a2 couple of months ago. done 3 day including the test and passed with 7 minors. u can pass if u kno how to ride a geared bike. just observation will catch u out.
Can anybody send me a link to a website with info about this test? Im interested in doing it too, is it for 17+ years old?
Yeah it is quite easy all common sense really but the best thing you can do is know the testing area like the back of your hand, and all the speed limits because some are hard to notice on the day, because its little things that will catch you out (well caught me out lol) I.E i came to a roundabout with two lanes, and it was heavy traffic so couldnt see the road markings so i assumed that left lane was left turn and straight over, and right lane was turn right, but it turned out the right lane was straight over and turn right, i then made the even bigger mistake of realising what id done, and changed back into the other lane so i was going the way he wanted, i failed because of that, not for going in the wrong lane, but for changing at the last min, so if you go the wrong way to what he says dont worry he doesnt mind aslong as you do it properly/safely . The second time i failed for sitting at traffic lights too long because i was trying to turn right but there was a constant flow off traffic coming straight over from the other side so i thought i couldnt, i didnt realise at the time that your meant to sit pretty much in the middle of the junction and wait for the lights to go red and then quickly go for it before the others turn green But yeah just keep your concentration right up and keep practising every single situation because its the one you dont practise that will happen on the test day  but most important i think is KNOW THE AREA First post and your already in my 'dickhead list'
You've also just made my spade list. Firstly, I don't ride a ped, I ride a scooter, check the definitions. And I will be getting a big bike when I can afford it, but plan on keepin the scoot for commuting and the big bike for fun (not saying the scooter isn't fun).
who the fuck are you to come here an say that.. i got rid of my 600 for a scooter. so go suck whatever cock has a fiver next to it. some people
Well said minor, and more to the point, what the fuck is he doing on a scooter forum if that's his attitude??!
Basically to take the piss. Since every fucking day i get cut up and almost killed by dickheads on peds. Just wondering what theyr mentaltity is to the fucking road. So can i ask why the attration to peds, why did you get rid of a 600 for a ped? Gears to hard for you lot?
