i heard something about these and had a look for a little online , is says something about getting a big bike at age 17 and restricting it to a 25kw? is thats what its all about? and how is the insurance? also daoes any one knows where to restrict the bikes? , could any one tell me more about it? as im really interested in doing this next year if its possible
If you are under 21 you can only get a restricted licence. 25kw aka 33bhp for the first 2 years then any power after that. You generally have to get the bike restricted at a dealer so you have the relevant paperwork to give to your insurers. This can cost around £200. Insurance is huge for any decent big bike for a 17 year old.
Did the A2 licence at 18 and I paid £850 TPFT for a 33bhp GSXR 600 SRAD at 18. I must admit the 33bhp kit wasn't that restrictive, I only had a top speed of 110 (which is more than ample) and it was a lot more tractable with the restrictor in than out. Definately worth it. My insurers never asked for a certificate for the 33bhp but most do and i picked up the kit for £12 second hand!
Oh, for sure. I work in within the insurance industry and anything will be done to get out of claiming
thanks a lot guys :good: , i dont really like cars so im trying to get bigger bike as soon as possible
