    Hi guys,

Bought a Piaggio Typhoon 50 here in my home town, Arroyo Grande, CA, USA, a few months ago. They were only imported for a few years here in the US. Mine's a '06. Runs great, handles well, good brakes, and it was cheap. A great foundation for modification. That's where I hope you guys can be helpful.

Look forward to getting to know you and learning from your experience with this sweet little scoot.

    Thanks in advance!!!

Just a guess, but the units imported to the US have to meet US Department of Transportation standards for motorcycles. That may include a minimum distance between the turn signals...hence, the stalks. The integrated ones look much nicer and don't get banged around, huh? Mine are almost like break-away signals. They pop right off the bike...and snap right back on.

Here are two more pix of the US Spec Typhoon. You can see the different headlights. Maybe you had those in the rest of the world, but all the pictures I have seen show one big lens. Not sure about the front signals.

Some other things I heard about the US Spec bikes: 17.5 mm carb stock. No variator restrictor collar.

I'll be looking for some simple re-jet recommendations for the bike with the 17.5 carb, 70cc kit (two rings), new air filter/s, and stock exhaust. Hoping to get a little more oomph and keep a quiet and reliable bike.

The low beam is bad the high beam is very good. I agree that the chrome doesn't look great. Nothing some sandpaper and paint can't fix.

so if you was to take the indicator storks of and make it look how they do here in the UK would you get stopped and done for it?

indicators and headlight look ugly in my opinion...still typhoon is a great scoot!

It's possible, but very doubtful. Very few police officers care about that kind of thing. People modify their cars and motorcycles in ways that make them illegal. The only place where people get in trouble is when they alter a car's emissions control systems.
