hi there people i have a honda cbr 125 on an 05 plate ,,,, when i first start it cold it idle's at 1k revs but when i pull the choke on it cuts out and struggles to start with it on (this also happens when the bike is warm but it idle's at 2k revs when warm) ,,,, when i took the bike for a service they rang me up and said it needed a piece of rubber for the carb so it would run a lot better with it and because it wasnt expensive i thought what they hey and got them to fit it ,, when i took the bike to them the choke used to work when pulling on it but now it just seems to make it cut out was just wondering if any 1 has any suggesting as to why it does it or is it as simple as the choke not being connected up propperly ?? any help is much appreciated cheers

sounds like the choke is over richening it too much. The rubber they replaced may have been letting air into the equation making the mixture leaner than it should be. When that was replaced the mixture gets richer due to less air.

Chokes dont have to be pulled out to the max to start a motor and it varies from one bike to another, try half choke or adjust it so its applying less when the cable is pulled

on most of my bikes with a choke i never need to use it unless its very cold out.

maybe if the rubber was letting in air then someone adjusted your mixture or idle speed screws would have been turned up to let more fuel in to compensate for that. now that the air leak is fixed you may need to adjust them back down. that would explain why it is idling too high and the choke is now over richening it. did it idle that high before they fixed it?

it always idle's at 2k before it was changed n when i got it back it idle's at 1k when its cold and 2k when its warm i thought it surely would have been the other way round tbh but ohwell and i knew something was wrong with it because the idle's would hover up and down with in 1k to 2k all the time
