    Hey guys.

My scooter is a DNA 50. I took the stock exhaust off and replaced it with a Yasuni R. I followed the diagram in the manual exactly and then simply mounted it to the points where the original exhaust was, seemed simple enough, but it's too close to the wheel, best ways to deal with this? I am thinking a few washers or a nut or something as a spacer between the mounting points and the bike but not sure if that's the best way to go about it.

I had a metal valve cap on and it really thrashed against the exhaust when I had it on the stand running, I could barely hear the noise and when I investigated found this:

The wheel is about 1mm away from the exhaust, maybe even half, very close. The bolt you see looks close but it's a couple CM away, the perspective is deceptive.

The metal valve cap is wrecked but that doesn't bother me they cost nothing, it made a small 'dent' in the exhaust where it hit it as the wheel spun, more like a smooth thumb-print really, I doubt this will affect the exhaust aside from cosmetically, right?

Second thing.. oh, right, the electric start. It worked when I got the bike but doesn't work anymore - firstly, it says here:
    - Is this correct for the electric start? (Electric = battery tells me that the electric start must use the battery (or a power source from somewhere obviously, but just making sure.) FYI, the kickstarter starts first time every time.

When I hold the brake and hit the electric start, the "thing" turns over inside the engine casing, sorry I don't know what anything is called, starter motor maybe? Anyway, this thing spins:

    (Lower right side)
At first it was spinning and then pushing out and locking with the main gear above it, but now it just spins freely, and if I try too much it stops spinning and I just get a whining noise from somewhere down there, which tells me it must be using the battery despite what that site says?

Unfortunately I don't have a helmet or insurance yet so I can't take it out for a bit to try and charge the battery, and I read just leaving it running on the stand would take about an hour for the equivelant of 5 minutes riding or something like that, plus I don't want to piss my neighbours off. I think a fresh battery might be in order, but is there anything else? Oh, there's the spark plug, but is that used at all in the electric ignition? and at what point, I mean, does it come before or after the part where the bike is getting stuck on so I can rule that out or not?
I took the plug out and the end looks a bit rusted and crap so I'm going to get a new one anyway.

Anyway thanks if anyone can advise with either of these issues.

I took the cover off the battery to check under there and found this connector not connected to anything, I looked around but there's nothing it could go into and there's no other loose wire like that so I haven't unplugged it by accident, but what is it for?

Edit: Regarding the exhaust issue, I ended up just pulling the exhaust frame away from the wheel and bending it, the exhaust is clear of the wheel now and doesn't stick out from the bike, I'll take a picture tomorrow because I want to check it's not still too close or perhaps too far (the footpeg sticks out further than the exhaust still, but just want to check with you lot).

I also fit some LED front indicators and they work fine except they flash too quickly, I have a relay flasher switch I'm going to fit as soon as I figure out where the indicator relay is...(any ideas so I don't have to remove every single fairing panel?)

Edit 2: I'm told the connector is for an alarm system, and I think based on this diagram here the regulator is probably behind the front panel where the horn is fitted, so that's that sorted. Now just need to wait for my spade connectors and wire to arrive and I can fit the flasher relay thing.

The only 'problem' remaining right now I suppose is the electric start, but I have a feeling it's the battery unless anyone can offer another possible explaination.

The starter prob. My guess is the something in your start pinion assembly is playing around. Simply take the transmission cover off and have a look inside by removing the kickstart and the bolts all the way around. When open try give it a start and see exactly what is not working. The pinion can simply be pulled out. Check for worn teeth and rotate the outer pinion and check if it moves smoothly up and down the shaft. Simply buy a new one fpr £15 (http://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/578/bendix-starter-throw-out-gear--piaggio-peugeot).

I've had the transmission cover off to fit things in there already (rollers, springs, belt) and I had a play with that, it didn't look damaged and it moved up and down smoothly, put it right back where it was, is it possible to install it incorrectly or something? It just slotted back in to where it was without any hassle, I'm hoping it's a battery problem. I bought a new one anyway so I will know when that gets here. Thanks.

my electric start doesnt work either, i think it may be due to the battery.. but similar to yours, it's not worn, it's in properly. Mine makes the connection with the teeth but it's just too weak, the other day it managed to start turning with some force and nearly turning the engine over without the CVT cover but with it on it doesnt work atall. Anyway, thank's for linking this site http://www.oemmotorparts.com/default.asp, i didnt know it existed and it's very useful:D
