well basically i washed my air filter (Gilera dna 50) and i must say it was black and crusty once i dryed it up it came out quite fresh, i then put it back on the bike but before i did i sprayed some wd 40 over it (this could the the problem) as i read you need to put oil on it, anyways after i did this it now seems to accelerate slower and i dont get as much speed form it as i used to on straights like a 3 -4 mph difference. you guys think i shouldnt of put the wd 40? (was too much ) could i of but it in dry or will that damage somthing? also at times when i full throttle the engine seems to switch off and when i release the throttle a bit it goes back to normal, when i full throttle the revs drop if any1 has any suggestions that would be great thanks
you need proper air filter oil on it not WD40 :w00t: Just do what 99.9% of people do and leave it un-oiled
sounds like you've leaned it off by cleaning it out. my guess is you removed the air flow disc (small gold coloured one with holes in it) or its not been fitted all along and the filter was so restrictive that it didn't matter.
cleaned in water, i assumed that petrol would just clean it better. but once it dry i though it would be ok. do you suggest i wash it again but this time leave dry without adding anything to it cos i dont have oil to use..
maybe it was so blocked it was restricting the air, now you've cleaned it theres more air flow like basically taking the airbox off, so its too lean ?
lol its drying rite now, gona put it on and see how it goes. if its now to lean what an i do to fix it? i have a 60 main jet which i was planning on putting on after i full de restricted which should be some time this weekend.
problem solved! unk: washed the filter with water and some soap, left it to dry put it on without WD40 this time now runs fine, acctually seems pit more powerfull than before i cleaned it. thanks for the help unk: unk: unk:
