right goodish news got the nsr yesterday , but wasnt as described the carb was a 26 mil dellorto instead of a 28 as standard and the stupid fucking previous owener fitted one of these shitty K+N things, so you know exactly whats happening when I start it :msn1: theres a couple of other things wrong which wasnt listed, e.g. lights being temperemtal and clocks not lighting up and the paint job isnt that good anyway its a project bike who cares... its just they could have told me right back to my initial question - how do you clean out bits of rust from the tank? could I put little stones in it and shake? and clean out?
yeah, take the fuel tap off, put some petrol in and some small stones and swill it round. should remove all the loose rust.
you gonna rebuild the motor? chances are its been run lean as fuck with an open filter :msn1: all part of the fun i spose imp:
yeah sounds good I suppose whatever I put in there I would have to count wouldnt I? I can just imagine though knowing me: 402... 403... 406.. o shit ive miscounted where was I? :msn1: umm to be honest Im not going to do an engine rebuild yet. It works fine and bike is fast even in the condition it is in now (terrible). ive bought a new air box and 28mil dellorto all for just 33 odd ( I bargain I thought! ) I am going to get it ready for an MOT, as soon its passed Ill wheelie it all the way home lol strip it down and get the frame sand blasted and repainted, get some new panels or maybe professionally resprayed (the tank has been sprayed with cellulose acrylic paint by the looks of it :msn1: so one drip from the petrol gun at the pumps blemishes it! - stupid amateurs! :wallbash: ) the main job of this project is to get it very near the original state to it looks good and starts first time and runs like it did when it came out of the showroom - no modding really I wanna keep it old skool, fresh and fast to suprise the 1.2/1.4 dick heads at the lights - when they see a tinny G reg bike purring away.. come get it bitch
