Hi Ive got a old 2stroke kh125 that will not run, its been sitting for a while been restored. the frames all complete but the engine just wont go Has Fresh Fuel and oil (pump works) Clean Carb no air leaks NEW ignition timed with strong spark Good compression But still no go!! Any advice would be great just want to get it out the shed at last!! thanks
do you have a compression tester ? and also a spark tester ? Because even if the spark looks good out of the bike. It can be really weak under compression.
wet plug and i did try putting a spoon full of premix down the plug hole just in case. I did have the engine running a few times only for a few seconds on full throttle but it wouldnt rev and just cut out.
ive played with that as well got my mate to have a muck about with it, hes pretty good at carbs spend most his time fiddling with them on the mexico. i think i might give up on it and get a new lump for it
I checked there was fuel coming from the tank to the carb, there is. checked the float valve was working fine, it was all jets are clear all seals on the carb are good. this has really stumped me
When my EXUP has been stood its a bitch to get started. It'll fire for a second or two and then stop and as you say its wont rev. Try dumping it down hill, it clears things out.... Spose the KH is kick start only????? (been a long time since I saw one) but if its electric, stick a jump pack on the battery. The engine needs a good 14.4V to get started ideally always works for me......... Have you tried eazi-start down the inlets?
if the ignition was OK before being laid up then it SHOULD be OK now. By the age of the bike it'll prob be points as opposed to electronic. My mates RD250 (1979 V reg) was points and they slipped whilst he was in a shop. He came out fired it up, dropped it in first and reved it to pull away and the bike went backwards. If i'd not seen it for myself I wouldnt have believed it still recon its clogged up with stale fuel IMHO I'll let you know tomorrow if mines the same as I've just got it out its winter storage bag. Few bits to swap and sort first tho'
ive changed it from points and condenser to a electronic ignition. company in germany makes conversion kits for old bikes. never liked points always fucking up. Yes the choke is working as well. It did run for a little while on a squirt of easy start but it hasnt run since. Think i might need to just strip it down completly. spoke to a guy from work who use to have one that the rotary valve plates wear out creating a air leak. Ive got thescoot so its not the end of the world if it takes a bit longer.
sounds like an air leak to me. running only on full throttle would suggest it needed alot of fuel to even out the massive air leak to get it just to run
I Have thought that as well, just got a whole new gasket set for the bike will have to work day and night now to get it running. My ped last night decided to shake itself to pieces and catch fire while riding LOL
