just wondering if im to buy a 70cc bore, will i have to buy a better crank too ?

Was planning on keeping/using my Leo Vince RR with it too, as if its rated as good as a ZX then it must be up to the job...

get a sport kit and then no it should be fine dependant on mileage as things do wear out as been said before

is it not for sale any more?

If the original crank is low milage or in good condition, the standard crank will be OK. It just wont last as long due to the extra forces put thro' it by the 70 kit. We used a TT to good effect but needed to increase to 21mm carb to get more fuel in to make the most of the 70cc

well iv got 8700 miles on my bike, genuine too,,, hasnt been ridden much lol ... is that low enough to pass and not need a crank?

Nah tom, dont think i am, got a fair bit of interest but nothing came of it, couldnt get it onto ebay . although will sell if i get the right offer.

Stig- so would i have to get a bigger carb to run the 70 ? im using a 17.5 atm all

if you want to make the most of the 70 kit then I personally would say yes. It'll run OK but you wont be making the most of your investment and benefit of the 70cc...more fuel=more power

is you go tuning the scooter it can be an expensive job but if you want it done right and bike to last longer the money needs to be ready

thats a true point right there pal,, so best option , brand new pm tuning crank- 80/90 quid.... or a 2nd hand one for what, 30/40/50 a 19 or 21mm carb and a 70cc kit.. would i need rollers and upjet? and open air filter too ?

A second hand crank can easily have twice as many miles as the one you have now and you wouldn't know...New stock one atleast tbh. Motoforce is good value aswell.

Definitely need rollers and jets. Carb and filter depends on the kit you get really. Can get away with using the standard ones if its not overly powerful.

hmm, didnt think about that ...well iv got about 8k miles on my current crank, if i bought a new stock one thats like 40-50 quid, i may aswell get a pm tuning one for 80 lol.... how much are the motoforce ones if you know , and are they reliable ?

and tbh, i was gonna get a 2nd hand 70 kit too lol... probably be polini or athena, along with the brand new 21mm carb...

what size rollers would you suggest and upjet to what? currently got a 90 jet in it as a 50cc with 17.5carb with a standard airbox,,

Motoforce is about a tenner less than the Pm and is atleast as good in my experience.

It really depends on what kit you're going for. IMO on a twin ring kit a brand new standard crank makes much more sense than second hand one no matter what it is. Cast iron and the like you could probs get away with the crank you've got now for a couple thousand miles but if you're planning on keeping it for a while it makes alot of sense to do it now than later.

Secondhand kits aren't as bad as you can easily see the condition of it but you get what you pay for obv. Get new rings atleast as well..

You can get 21mm runner carbs for about a score as well off eBay etc which are good value.

No idea about rollers and that lol. 100-110 jet atleast with just a 70s I'd have thought

Scooter attack reccommend the Motorforce evo crank on some of their product descriptions its a very good crank for the money.

so this not for sale now then? decided to tune it instead

thanks guys,Ramo, looks like il be buying a motoforce one then if nothing else is for sale at the time....i see what your saying about the reliability of the std crank, and as for the bores, i would always buy one with 2 piston rings instead of 1... probably only keep it for a few hundred miles tbh. ..and 21mm carbs are like 40/50 new so may aswell buy a new one :)

Sketchytom-----th motoforce ones probably the one ill end up getting if theres no decent used bores about,,,,, and i wont be selling it at the moment , but once all the new bits and bobos are on it and its revamped and iv had some fun on it,,.. it will more than likely be up on fleabay :)

crank depends on what bore you will buy.. if you get a 2 rings bore then i think the crank is not that necessary...
i had the Malossi replica 2 rings kit and i didnt have a crank on and it worked like a charm!

damn i miss the days when i opened the throttle and the bike wheelied... :(

haha i havnt popped no wheelies yet, fuck falling off the back,,used to wheelie mountain bikes for miles..literally .....A record of mine was wheelie-ing all the way down a dual carriageway :)

but dont think mopeds have the same ability as bikes lol... fall off you put ya chain back on and try again.. fall off ya ped you probably fuck one side of plastics amongst other stuff, might get a engine problem o_O

need to learn to wheelie i guess!

but yeah, back on topic lol... i will probably get either a polini or motoforce one, if motoforce do 2 rings pistons anyway so wont bother with a crank seeing as mines not been ridden much.

Look on th pedparts blog, and you'll see why the stage6 cast iron kit is the best ;)

The polini and malossi kits make peak power at a certain rpm and then quickly lose power, but the stage6 kit stays on peak power for a range of like 3,000rpm! There's a dyno graph on the blog :)

if i do get the 70 kit.. i think ill just get a motoforce one for 90quid or parmakit.

Spash out an extra 12 quid for the stage6 man, it's worth it, and it's stamped as 49cc
