I'm having a nightmare with my boys Ice at the moment , after having it heat sieze I bought the polini 70cc kit to replace the barrel and piston head etc, had that fitted. Picked it up from the shop and was told its running abit rough, but should be ok after abit of a run "to clear its throat" arc: So I took it out for a run, things didn't improve, so went back home with it(as it was too late as shop had shut for the day), well the next day my boy takes it out "to run it in" and got about 2miles and the thing conked out just died on him. He wheeled it back home, I got onto the shop about it and they said it may need rejetting.....so I took the main jet out which was a 98 :wtf: changed it for a 88 and also changed the sparkplug for a newer one, finally it started and I took it out for a run...alot better this time, it didnt seem so rough and felt like it was clearing itself, so I took it back home and told my boy to take it out again, he got to town and went to get something to eat, came back out and went to start it and it wouldnt start at all, so he ended up wheeling it back home again, so I changed the jet for a 84 after checking the plug again(black & oily), got it started again, my boy got on it and rode across the road and it just conked out and died again??....Its also been back to the shop yesterday, they said they took it out and it was running fine etc, so yet again my boy takes it back out and guess what it DIED AGAIN!.....any idea's?????? His setup is as follows: Polini 70cc kit LINK Malossi multivar+ 5.5g rollers Dellorto 21mm carb + standard inlet manifold Malossi burger filter Also noticed the 21mm carb takes 5mm thread size main jets....so if anyone has got any in sizes going down from 84...let me know please PLEASE HELP!
sounds like an air leek.. mabey some gasget left somwhere mabey. if it had an iron kit on befor it shouldent need setting up again. rings might be a little tight. seems funny how a new barrel needs to "clear its throat" as they should rev freely if you want them too even if you just bolted it on...
Well I'm thinking the shop can't be bothered with it tbh, it had a malossi on it before so wasnt an Iron kit, I've also had a suggestion it may be the stator plate, or even the CDI, so might change those over and see if that makes any difference, and while I'm at it I might aswell order some more jets.....pain in the arse this scooter!
hi mate, I have recently fitted the polini 70cc to my speedfight 2. I was having problems at th start after i left it ticking over through out the day on and of. when i finally got round to driving it it wouldn't move. i realized the jet was to big got my stock air filter. i put my performance filter on and an 88 main jet. its now running fine. i was thinking did u put the supplied Reed valves on ya bike with the new cylinder? you must use them because the stock cant cope for long and could snap or crack. you may want to check the fuel line, just check the bikes getting what it needs to run correctly.
