right, iv got an mbk nitro 50 and the engine is currently with Tweak, a well known member of SS and he is fitting me a polini sport 70s kit, polini 21mm carb, motorforce racing crank. i already have a polini variator kit and doppler s3r exhuast.

anyway, today my dad has been speaking to a bike mechanic at a bike shop and he has said that my bike will just "blow up" and that my gearbox wont be able to handle it. i was thinking of a gear up kit but what are your views on this, du i need one and are 70s kits just a way to blow up my bike or is this a lie??!

so, please can people tell me advantages, disadvantages of a 70s kit and if you have one on your bike what it is like, speed and reliability wise?

i arnt having second thoughts about a 70s kit coz its getin done at the minute by tweak as i said. i just want to know what things i need to add/do to make sure it is still reliable etc.

lmao he doesnt know what hes talking about

    your gear box blowing up?

the only thing that might be a problem is if you have done alot of miles on your stock crank you might want to invest in a new one which u have havent u?

and the only thing that could 'blow up' is your bore which is pretty unlikely on a sport kit as long as its ran in properly and then if anything does go its mostly likely to be your piston rings gone or something alike.

    what a load of shit

my friend has had a malossi sport 70cc kit on his aerox, for 12,000 miles

he then smashed the fucker up (somewhere in the pictures section is on there, I posted it) it was a complete and utter right off

hardly anything was salvagable a couple of bits survived and one of them was the 70cc kit (please dont call it 70s by the way lol its irritating)

hes installed it onto his new rox (only supposed to last 10,000 miles) and hes done just over 1,500 miles on it again

not once did his gears fuck up, only thing he has to change was the clutch as it was old and shit

the guy your dad spoke to is talking shit m8;)

Run the kit in and look after it and I can guarantee it will outlive the motor

on a more extreme note: there is/was an aerox on ebay with a polution evo2 kit on it, when setup up right that will make 21bhp approx, (around tenish times as much as the motor can produce standard)

its on an 07 plate and he installed the kit within the first couple of days of riding it, that engine has 9,000 km's and its still going and I believe its still on standard gear ratios

lmao what a load of shit.

    Gearboxes cant blow up?

All what can happen is the gear grind due to no gearbox oil or the gearbox bearings go.

lol does the guy at the garage even know what a scooter looks like?

its amazing what the people at the garage will say to people to try and get more money :(

but i find it quite funny when they think im some chav know nothing, and they start chatting shit to me about engines. and how 2 strokes store and circulate oil and how they are identical to four strokes apart from the exhaust:confused:arc:

i just feel sorry for the guys who dont know much about scooters and actually fall for this stuff :(

thanks for replies fellars, i knew that he wer talkin shite and i needed to explain that 2 my dad even thu he has a superbike lol

but what about running it in.....how many miles wil i have to do and what sort of procedures do i have to follow. every spare minute i get this week is gna be time spent wearing it in but i need to know what to do and what NOT to do!?

:rtfm: it is a fukin discrace how bad some garages are and that they just make such a simple job into 10 hours labour and then charge some un-knowledged 16 year old a ridiculous amount for so little work. it really pisses me off to be honest because why cant ther be a garage that you can trust them not to bum you each time you go in and want something doing?

i liked the old thread we had before which was a thread naming and shaming WANK scooter shops who just scam people out of cash, i feel a update of this thread coming on ;) what you lot think?
