70 kir confusion :S

    Hey,

    When i first got my neos it went 55 (according to speedo)

    and recently its been going around 45, and iv messed with transmission etc and no luck, so I put a polini 70 kit on,

    fitted it, setup the transmission, altho the rollers may be a tad light, and jetted it, (its a tinyy bit rich) but its runs ok, doesnt bog or splutter, as is fine when riding.

    however, the only thinbgs ive noticed from the kit are slightly better acel and no top end difference, and at certain throttle positions it goes really loud :confused: like the exhaust isnt tight :confused:

    i really dont know whats going on, ran it for about 70miles now gently with a few blasts of throttle and it doesnt even feel faster.

    I changed the spark plug to the one it says in the instrucions, lifted the needle up a notch and upjetted to an 80 (from 72) then down to a 78 (8%)

    so im confused as so farr its shit, some lad i know put a 70kit on his aerox and its made so much difference, however, mine hasnt.

    help pleasee :D

    Either youve bodged up fitting it, or you havent set it up properly!!

    fitted it as per instructions,

    stripped most of the back end of the bike to get good access,

    got the carb off & covered the intake, took exhaust off, cracked all 4 head studs off, undid it all, slid the old head and barrel off, and put cloth to protect things from going in crank case, cleaned the gaskey face, washed the new parts, smeared with oil, checked the ring gaps etc, put the new piston on (& a new little end bearing) put base gasket on, got the new barrel & slid it on, making sure the rings were in line with the locating pins, put the head on & torqued down in a star pattern and fitted everything else.

    just doesnt seem very beneficial.

    70 kits will make the most difference to acceleration rather than top end...

    after all most 50cc scooters are geared for around a genuine 55ish mph,
    irrespective of what your clocks read...

    Dont beleive all the storys of 70mph peds with a leo TT and a sport 70cc :msn1:

    I was out on my 70 the other night with my 16yr old son on the back, we blasted past the local chavs down the A444 (dual carriage way) my Runner was off the clock 2-up,

    The local chavs with their natty leo pipes and 2 gram rollers were wobbling in my bow wave :p

    just weird how its slower than what it was when i first had it by like 10mph,

    hmm i dnoo, weird, just annoyingg, could have transmission issues,, ent got a clue what the random noises are about tho :confused:

    like, you now when you ride along, and you back off the throttle to half or something to maintain ur speed, at certain revvs it will sounds really loud :confused: lioke the exhausts lose :confused:

    55 is fast for a standard neos!

    What carb have u got on it? isent the standard on a neos 12.5mm? in that case u probably wont see much difference with the 70kit untill you get a bigger carb a better exhaust?

    i'de try a fresh belt , if thats worn it'll definatly effect your speed and that would explain why it used to go faster when you got it ?

    And you have of course checked the pipe isnt loose ?? :tdwn:

    if i check a pipe to see if its blowng, i stick my finger over the outlet, (you may want a piece of rag or a glove to protect your hand)...

    if theres no leaks the exhaust will go very quiet and the engine will try to stall,

    if there is a leak the engine will carry on running and you will hear the leak ;)

    just been out again and had a good look and listen,

    the little pipe from the top of my airbox has gone! so was getting loads more air, ut that back in, runs a lot better, accels better also, still only pulls around 50, altrhough i havnt really pushed it because runnin in, the noise is only at like pull away and medium revvs, sounds like somthing inside the exhaust

    but theres not, already checked

    and its got a verty good seal, can have it ticking over, pout hand over it, and stall, when you take hand off all the pressure comes out, even does it with throttle on ;)

    really weird noise,
    and yeah im on the 12.5 carb, will try a fresh belt, i can get hold of a 17mm carb off an aerox 100, but wouldnt have a clue what jetting?

    + would the carb be too much for stock crank, as cranks done around 8k i think, so 70kit and a carb not be too much or?

    gutted i didnt get a sports pipe, was going to sell aswel haha

    anyone know rough jetting for a 17mm carb?

    and would i need to change the pilot

    Does it feel faster to ride? Could it be that you've just got a problem with your speedo?

    well, my speedo cable broke, and i left it for like 100 miles til i got a new one, and its been different speeds since that, it doesnt feel slower, and it feels faster now especially with the 70, but how can cable change the ratio the speedo goes :confused:

    if i ride alongside my mate on his aerox, ill do bang on 40mph and his says like 46 :confused:

    rode with my mate, hes still faster, the 70kit has actually made shit all top end difference,

    put the belt on, still the same boring 50mph.

    tried different clutch springs, engages earliar with stiffer springs, wtf:confused: tried them in a diff clutch, and some other springs, engages really early, its really pissin me off, cus if i could have the clutch engage later i could use heavier rollers as im 2.5g lighter than standard atm!

    it used to go at least 45mph restricted, and 55 derestricted, and then it was going 45 derestricted, then i out 70 on and it goes 50 derestricted, well annoyin cus its slower than when i first got it.

    also, i know this will proberly make me sound retarded, but, in the polini instructions for the kit, it says to lift the needle up carb up a notch and adjust the airscrew accordingly.

    i lifted the needle up and upjetted :confused:

    so would it be too lean on standard jet?

    or would it kill it going from a 78 jet to 75, its not stupid rich atm, but the plug is quite dark, bikes well annoying me now, dont understand why its just gone slower, iv done everything wit transmission, tried another carb, cranks all good, put a 70 kit on, tried 2 or 3 exhausts, still just slower, and no the brakes arnt rubbing, just feels flat and doesnt revv :confused:

    okay, in the instructions, it says to lift the needle up a notch and adjust the air screw, but for the other kits it says fit the jet provided etc,

    just wondering whether i should put the needle back down OR put standard jet back in :confused:

    im only 3 sizes bigger than standard now and its still rich.

    help pleaseee
