Coming up to 17 now and a mate of mine has a 53 plate bandit for sale. It was in a accident and needs the gear shifter and front end replacing, e.g forks, bars etc. He took it up the road and back as it is rideable (just about) Its got a full scorpian pipe and it sounds the bollox  Now the best bit is... he wants £400 for it :w00t: Is it worth £400? Because I certainly think it is. My dad said for about 200 odd quid you could probably get it back on the road?
Forks are fucking expensive. Front wheel might be bent. Frames likely to be tweaked. Find out if the insurance will write it off first. Best bet is to take it to a dealer, pay £35 for a Estimate repair. + Go from there. Thanks
I was thinking that forks are gonna be the most expensive bit. The kid who's selling it said that he got quoted £250 inc. labour to get it all sorted. So I will ask him for the blokes number and speak to him. If not I'll get him to take it to a dealers with me. Cheers Ciaran
Including the labour? His taking the piss mate. Forks are a bitch of a job. Your looking at a good £150 for the labour before you even have the forks lol.
that bike sounds like a bargin and you could always make a project out of it have a look in streetfighter magazine nearly all the bike in there have forks off different bikes on they get yokes made to suit even with fancy front end on off a gixer or summat the bike would probly stand you u in less than buying one not damaged just a thought
^^^ Thats exactly what I was thinking mate. And tbh I would much rather have a 600 bandit "restricted" (LOL) at 17 than a 125, 172 etc
who the hell said 250? thats JUST labour.. the forks are neer on a grand! as for the forks being fucked and a cast frame not... me thinks not. its written off or it would have been fixed. dont touch it
fact ios for its age the owner would spend the money... he would get it back 4 fold. why hasent he? as its had an engineers report saying its fucked and beyond repair.. hasent gone through insurance? probable cause it was ridden illegally then fled the scene dont touch it.. my opinion anyway
This is what I've been told. All could be complete bollox. His mate had passed his test about 5 or so weeks ago, went flying into a corner like a bat outa hell, hit a curb and put him self in hospital, when he saw the state of the bike he said to my mate he could have it for £300. He then tried selling it to me for £500 and I said na the most I'll pay is £400. Couple of days later I got a text saying I'll take 4 for it. Soooo I dunno what to do. I might say to him, if its only gonna cost ya £250 to put it right, Get it done and I'll give you 700 for it.
To be honest save yourself the time and money and just get a good one. They are everywhere and aren't too expensive really, plus if he's bullshitting on the cost of repairs what else could he be hiding? Honda CB500 ftw
